This is the main place to come when you're looking for a top end place to eat, partying in LKF, or high end shopping. Some of the world's most expensive real estate is located here. The streets are narrow and some of the buildings dingy, and depending on the time of day it will probably be very crowded. Worth a... More

I travel a lot and I found this area to be confusing and hard to navigate. Walking didn't help. I think I missed things because I didn't know where I was going. I don't normally have that issue at all. So I didn't think it was that great. There are plenty of taxis.

Central is the epicenter of Hong Kong with the fanciest restaurants and hotels in the city. The views of the harbor are fantastic from up high and transportation is a breeze to and from this area.

all the most expensive stores close up and personal.....and also a few stores that you may be able to afford as an ordinary tourist. Too ritzy for me- prefer shopping on the Kowloon side where life and shopping more realistic and not so $$$$$$$$!!!!

This is the central district of Hong Kong where there is mixture between the two different cultures. There are buildings that reflect Hong Kong's British life. Modern buildings together with ancient buildings make the city breath-taking upon your first visit. Major districts such as Causeway Bay, Wanchai, Central,... are highly recommended. The streets become crowded and crowded as the night... More

Hong Kong Central and Western District it is a mix of modern and quaint. There are sky scrapers, historical points, street shops selling dried sea food. Sometimes, you can see dried sea food in front of a modern sky scraper. It is also a very busy area.

the Central area of Hong Kong Island is the centre of the business area. This is ground zero for all the huge towers, all the high end stores, and the financial hub of HK; But it has not lost its historical ties - Hollywood Road, Garden Street, the escalators all have great old buildings, small shops and historical temples. When... More

Central and the surrounding areas such as Soho and Lan Kwai Fong are a buzz with people especially in the evenings. You have the mid level escalators there which people jump on and then off when they see a bar they want to go too. All along the escalator route is full of people enjoying themselves

On Hong Kong Island, a great place to wander around, viewing Victoria Harbour, catch a ferry to Kowloon, marvel at the high-rise buildings.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
