Stanley is very different to other parts of Hong Kong, or completely different from what you think about Hong Kong. Stanley, located at the southern of Hong Kong island, is much more relaxed with beaches, hills and coves. You will find the western atmosphere in this small Chinese town.

I took the Hop On Hop Off bus to Stanley. The beach is very different from what you expect in Australia or in europe. There are many lovely trees planted on the sand and lots of look out towers too. The waters are calm and serene. I was there at the end of Winter and it was lovely so I... More

Good variety of restaurants, particularly on the waterfront. More relaxed atmosphere than other areas of HK.

When starting at Central I recommend Bus Nr 260 to Stanley Market in the upper deck. The tour by bus is a sightseeing tour with many impressions of the Area outside of Central. The Stanley Market is ok with offerings one can get all over the City. To walk along the seaside promende is a nice walk

The waterfront has cleaned up and now has a row of restaurants. The Famous Stanley Market is only a portion of what it used to be. Now you have shops selling cloths at several hundreds of dollars along side market stall holders.

Loved it here. It reminded us of a nice British seaside resort but warmer! We strolled on the promenade, got an ice cream from the ice cream van and visited the plaza and market. We spent a very pleasant afternoon here.

Whilst I was in Hong Kong, I used to visit Stanley, walk for a bit, sip on the beer and watch the day pass by. Very relaxing!

Stanley is a bit more off the beaten path than some other destinations in Hong Kong. We enjoyed visiting and really liked the market there. They had more art than some of the others.

It's good to get out of the city. Stanley market has lots of arts and crafts, there are a couple re located brick by brick colonial buildings , worth a trip.
