We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Martin Heyes. We were surprised to see that many of the wartime relics survived and are situated in areas we drive by all the time! Martin was extremely knowledgeable about Hong Kong's WWII history and we loved his passion! Thank you, Martin!

We spent over 4 hours with Martin Heyes - the area and battle expert tour guide. He was simply awesome - truly 5 *****'s. We really enjoyed Martin a lot and the content and background he provided. We communicated before we arrived in Hong Kong battle to get more details of my father-in-law's actions while in the Hong Kong so... More

I went to this trail to accompany my son who is a history buff. We were a bit lost at the start and taking the longer and difficult trail uphill before realising our mistake and retreated back. Fortunately we found the right trail near the parking lot opposite Parkview hotel. The trail is nice and easy, not difficult even for... More

In March 2016, I visited Hong Kong and decided to have a bush walk in Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail and Violet Hill. Took bus (most economical way) No.6 from Central (Exchange Square). After about 20 minutes on bus ride, got off at bus stop no.14 (Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park, Wong Nai Chung Gap Road ). To go to... More

There is no need to pay $500 HK for this tour. The trail is well marked with information boards, photo's and everything you need to know about the battle that happened at Wong Nai Chung Gap. Just get a taxi up to "Parkview" Apartments and the trail starts across the road from there, you will see the remains of the... More

This trail was especially fascinating because three of four in our group are Canadian. We had no idea of Canada's involvement in defending Hong Kong against the Japanese invasion December 1941 until we walked this trail. There's no admission fee. Stations mark the sites of particular battles, and the history is well explained. The trail is a fairly easy walk,... More

Hong Kong is a city that doesn't seem to rest but it is possible to escape for a couple of hours and the trails around Wong Nai Chung Gap allow you to enjoy peace, fresh air, views that are truly fabulous, oh and you get a bit of exercise as well. There are lots of steps and a very steady climb... More

Although my walk was now a year ago, I still felt that it was incumbent upon me to post my comments about my excursion along the Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail as well as my guide, Mr. Martin Heyes. For anyone who enjoys history, this is an excellent walk and Martin was terrific, particularly since he is a former British... More

If you're a history lover and love the outdoors, this is the perfect trail for you. It's an easy hike, takes about an hour from end to end, and easily accessible by public transit or car. The trail starts at a small parking lot halfway up Tai Tam Reservoir Road, within view of the Parkview development entrance. The trail is... More
