The museum takes up the opium wars and the English commonwealth. There are lots about landslides and typhoons. Well worth a visit a rainy day. If you haven't got any rain on your vacation I wouldn't go.

Living in Hong Kong, I have been to the Museum of History numerous times now, always for a different reason: either to keep kids entertained, to show friends that visit HK for the first time what this place is about, to get a grasp on what makes HK tick or to show some of my local friends what their history... You will love this museum if you like history, even if you don't you will find something interesting. There are usually 2 sections , 1 main building and one exhibition wing (which changes every so often), make sure you visit both parts. The main museum will take you from the stone ages to present day Hong Kong. I really enjoyed... More

You will think about Hong Kong in a new way after you learn all the information here. It's not that interesting if you're not into history though.

I think entry is free on Wednesday- I visited and didn't have to pay. Well worth a visit for an insight into Hong Kong's history via the medium of colour and beautiful displays

I visited this museum with my eleven year old daughter on her first visit to Hong Kong. It provided an excellent overview of the history of Hong Kong that was fun and engaging, but also very informative. I would recommend it highly as an excellent introduction to the city.
