We stayed in Sheung Wan & spent plenty of time exploring it. There's lots of see & do, with heaps of interesting historic buildings & businesses.

Sheung Wan is a lively business and residential location between Central and Sai Ying Pun. It is home to the tourist-famed Western Market, Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal, Sheung Wan Tram Terminus and Graffiti Street. It is also famous for its Sunday Street Market and a whole lot of Western cafes. It is residence to many foreign expatriates and a reasonable... More

We followed the walking tour from the Monocle Hong Kong city guide. Hit some fun clothing and home goods stores, a few cafes, and learned a little bit of local history. Multiple options for great coffee too.

This is a place to feel like a busy hong kong person The amount of people in this tiny area where the people got to work. This is the place where they must work in to be in the top. But besides work. This place for tourist is a must where you will see the oldest land vehicle in Hong Kong.... More

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong Soho at #83 Jervois St, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong for 4D/3N. The location is good since it's only a minute away to Sheung Wan MTR station so it saves us a lot of Red Taxi Fare; the most expensive Taxi there, Next is Green Taxi, and Blue Taxi - the cheapest but... This is a must do in HK. Travel at a leisurely pace and see the old HK buildings stubbornly holding their ground against looming high rise.

A short walking distance to the west of Central, Sheung Wan retains the flavors and sights of older days’ Hong Kong. It is also gentrifying fast. In a radius of about 300m centered on the Holiday Inn Soho Express Hotel, you’ll find small hole-in-the-wall” restaurants popular at lunch time with office workers keen to eat for around HKD30, stylish bars... After visiting the area and Western Market Hall, we took the traditional narrow double decker tram and from upstairs it was interesting to see the traditional Chinese shops drying products in the street

Staying in Sheung Wan

Neighbourhood Profile
Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.
