I was expecting big mall. It turns out that Sogo in causeway bay is small. Some high end brand and cosmetics on store. On ground floor, there are supermarket that sell Japan snacks. But the price ia definetely premium. And I was kinda curious, Ferrerro rocher chocolate price in the mart is much higher compared to some outside stores. The... More

One of the last remaining Japanese department stores and perhaps not the Mecca of shopping that it once was... the supermarket in the basement is where the hidden treasures are... soft ice cream with gold leaf, why not🍦and pipping hot cheese tarts, beard papa cream puffs, and many more...

We walked in this upmarket mall just to explore prices. First thing that strikes one on entry is the layout of various categories of goods. It is as if one is walking into an exhibition floor. The floor dedicated to ladies handbags has every major world brand making it possible to compare the designs and prices. Same is true for... More

Sogo is a good place to visit if you like to stock up on Japanese luxury Brand such as Shiseido, Cosme decorte , Shu Uemura. They are much cheaper as compared to other Asian countries. Food at UFC cafe is nice but expensive though . The famous HK wives biscuits can be found on the same level as the Supermarket.... More

Sogo Hong Kong might be best comparable with Harrods or Bloomingdales (the main one in New York). It offers everything and especially the home departments host e.g tea pots for 100.000 USD. So bring a big check book or just walk around and discover Asian treasures.

Oldish and can't really compete with the big or new boys in town. Shopping wise, the high end shops are small and small walking spaces. The basement which is usually the highlight in Japan is similarly crowded with small walking spaces. Not impressive

We arrived late afternoon and the floor was full of people, it was very hard to move about because of the volume of people. the access to the elevator was crammed with people wanting to go up and at the same time people wanting to go across the pathway. the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th floor were full of people... Not one of my "to do" things in HK. Way too busy for my liking. And when I bought a pair of shoes, I was charged for the plastic bag with their advertising on it :)

Be prepared for large crowds. If you have any sort of phobia about being in crowded areas this is not the place for you.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
