Several blocks lined on both sided with antique and curiosity shops. Cat Alley is parallel to it in some areas as well, making this THE place to shop for antiques and antique reproductions. There are great brik a brak shops and stalls and you can easily spend the day. Buy what pleases you...as Im not sure I would trust a... More

There are more interesting area to see in Hong Kong like Victoria Harbour and Central Piers. There are some restaurants and stores here, but nothing we saw worth visiting.

We took the Mid-Levels Escalator from Central to walk along this interesting street, window shopping in the galleries and antiques shops lining the road up to the Man Wah Temple. We rode the bus (after sign language help from a nice Chinese senior) back down to Central. A fun way to see another part of Hong Kong.

This is the part of Hong Kong that does not move with time for modernity, so a stroll here is interesting for foreigners to see old styled Hong Kong. It is on mid-level but accessible with the escalator from lower town. Nearby is So-Ho (South of Hollywood) with interesting eateries cater for foreign tastes.

It has some good shopping options. We went to check it out on our way down from mid-levels escalator. We actually did some window shopping, and we could see that some good discounts were on offer. If looking for halal food after long shopping walk, you can check out Kebab House, which offers nice food / meals, which is nicely... More

You can see a lot of antique shops and Man Mo Temple on Hollywood Road, worth the visit when you are visiting Central Soho, PMQ is nearby.

This road is full of shops selling jade and mammoth carvings (definitely not ivory as that would be illegal). I had no idea there were so many mammoths around! Certainly the art and sculpture on offer is impressive but and I am sure there are reputable shops here but unless you know what you are doing I am sure this... More

Coming up the fantastic mid level escalators, this road leading to the Man Mo temple (nice!) is full of cool shops, cafés and restaurants. We even came back again later at night to a great vegetarian place we had spotted. Worth spending a bit of time.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
