Pre book during busy seasons

When in HK - a must do trip, the queues were stupendous, I arrived saw the queue - then pre-booked on site on the internet, avoided the massive queues - but worth the hassle!

I'd forgotten how beautiful it can be on a clear day! Met my visitors at Exit B, Tung Chung MTR station. Short walk across plaza to the escalator up to Cable Car. From that point to getting into a cable car was 45 mins when buying a ticket on site. It was so busy, even those who had purchased on... More

When I was there it unfortunately there was really heavy rainfal. But nevertheless it was very nice to climp up the stairs and see the impressive Big Buddha. The Souvenir Shops are also very tasteful (in my opinion the Souvenir Shops in HK do really a good job in providing interesting and nice things for westerners - since I have... More

Finally get to visit the Big Buddha. The cable car ride was amazing. The walk up the steps were not tiring at all. The Buddha was awe inspiring. All in all, this is recommended for Hong Kong visitors together with Victoria Peak. Do expect some waiting to buy tickets for the cable car ride.

Getting there is all the fun. The cable car ride is spectacular but it's the only part of this site that's worth doing.

It was a foggy and rainy day when we visited. Bring a sweater and rain gear if you plan to go there in November. You can just go up the stairs to see the Big Buddha from afar. You do not need to buy any tickets unless you want to have coffee (38hkd) after you see the Buddha. We thought... More

The cable car ride is amazing and definitely the best way of getting to the buddha. Make sure to pay for your tickets ahead of time to avoid the queues or you will be waiting in line for over an hour. It's not a historic site, as it was build in the 1990's but its certainly impressive.

Might be a good idea to pre-purchase tickets for the cable car as the line up was massive. We decided against doing any of the tours and walked from the car to the buddha which was a great experience in itself. Well worth it and a great change from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.

We went on an afternoon trip it was so interesting. This is a cultural interest as well as fascinating. Really clever . Would recommend a trip as your guides will tell you a lot more and make it a memorable day out.

Travelling to the Big Buddha takes quite some time, but the Big Buddha is worth the effort. From the train station you take the ski lift (gondola lift) to the peak. I recommend to take the glass bottom gondola and do buy your tickets beforehand. Glass bottom gondola has one additional benefit in addition to the obvious better view -... More
