Definitely worth the commute! Although Ngong Ping 360 was closed for maintenance, we opted to take the bus and explore Ngong Ping Village the minute we landed in Hong Kong. As it is also located on the same island as the airport, there was no reason not to see it. We enjoyed walking around, exploring the different parts of the... More

Right next to Buddha, great place and excellent food. We ate here before we left and rode the skyline, amazing view. Cant get enough pictures and they sell a lot of souvenirs, prices are resonable. Tip: if they say $50HK ask for $$30HK and they are very nice to give it to you...

This is my 3rd visit to Big Buddha but first with mom n cousin. Sadly, cable car is not available until June 2017 due to maintenance but u can take a half an hour bus no. 23 trip from Tung Chung for a cheap 17 HK dollars. The place still amazes me and the climb to the 200+ steps Tian... More

Amazing place! Go on a clear day so you can see the Buddha everywhere. You can hear the monks chant during their services. Cows and dogs roam the island. Ride the gondolas up the mountain. (Right now gondolas are closed for repairs until June)

Keep at least half a day on your itinerary to do ngong ping. It's worth the time and doesn't keep charging you for things that should come for free. Unless u take the cable, which I think is ok for the first time, there are buses going in. Nice mid long journey of about an hour from Tung Chung MTR... More

A great day out - give yourself time to stroll amongst the shops and to visit the temple and climb the steps to the Buddha. A great way to escape the heat and many photo opportunites and spectacular views.

Also the crystal cabin which you will have to pay a bit extra but its see-through right at the bottom so was an amazing experience. Recommend to book tickets beforehand so you don't have to queue for ages as it's very popular.
