This place is good for educational visit to learn more about history and culture of Indonesia, especially during Dutch occupation in Indonesia for almost 3.5 century. A lot of historical items, but sadly they are not well preserved.

Located in the old part of town, this museum is a group of buildings from the 17th century which originally served as warehouses of the VOC (Dutch East Indian Company). There are exhibited a couple of interesting boats and only recently (27-2-17) an exhibition was opened dedicated to the Battle of the Java Sea and the Battle of the Sunda... More

When I went to the Bahari Museum, I found that there were some interesting exhibits, such as the collection of old canoes and boat equipment, and the sections showing the history of trade through the Jakarta region. The buliding itself, a historic shipping warehouse, was also interesting to look at, and getting to go up on the outer security wall... More

A spot that should be included on any tour of old Batavia (Kota district) as it is housed within the last remaining warehouses of the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (Dutch East Indies Company, or VOC) which date back to the mid 1600s. While the exhibits within are certainly interesting and informative - and in English - the most interesting aspect for... More

If you have enough time to spend going to this museum is an option; It looks like the museum hasn't received maintenance in years; doors, exhibitions products are full of dust, and severely lack of care; there is some scattered interesting information along the site, but you have to hire a guide. One of the guides are Mr. Catur, quite... More

Being and island nation maritime museum is an interesting one. Fairly well preserved. Explore the past of Indonesia, dutch history, spice trade details, old boats and miniatures. Interesting for kids too.

Good collection and it showcases about Indo's maritime thing then and now. The building is very old (a bit spooky if you ask me) yet quiet. Besides, it is rare for visitors coming into the museum. Still, it is worth to go.

Very interesting place in discoveing the old history of the Sea trade, the Harbour of Batavia and the colonil period under the Dutch. The Museum is located in one of the original Dutch buildings at the Harbour, showing ship models, nautical tools and naval paintings. There is also an antique "pending" observation tower with an underground jal.
