If you are looking for traditional cloth it is the right place. Yet most of the shops sells " made in china " products.

They sell lots of things here from the wet market, fresh vege, souvenir, cloths to wedding dress and many more.. Most of the items can also be found outside the market near Malioboro street.

Otherwise it would just be a very hot, confusing maze of small stalls who sells everything with a lot (i mean a lot) of people. But if you love the local traditional market experience, then be sure to drop by to this market. Located on the malioboro street. Open from morning till around 3-4 pm. If you love hunting for... You can find cheaper batik here than malioboro, but you need to haggle otherwise it can be more expensive. The place is really crowded and so narrow.

A market opened everyday from 9-5, this one's a good visit for souvenirs. However, one must be skilled in haggling. If you aren't, head to the shops in the other section of the market (not the one facing Malioboro street). The shops there have fixed prices and reasonable. All in all, one can find traditional batik cloth for weddings, evening... More

U can bargain the price here. The more u buy, the lower price u can get. Can get cheaper key chains here than at malioboro.

If one tell you to buy cheap batik else where than this place, ignore them, you can have a batik shirt for as low as IDR 25.000!! If you need to modify the size of your clothes, you can find sewer on 2nd floor. The market is very crowded with narrow space, make sure you don't have large bag with... More

Definitely worth a visit for its charming and friendly atmosphere, where you are able to find nearly everything. Don't forget to bargain as this is a national sport here.

came here to hunt for batik. a bit dissapointed as many stalls offer printed batik instead of hand-stamped or hand-painted batik. the batik price is very reasonable. the place is cramped with stalls and seller spread out in many narrow alleys. not recommended to bring young kids. must bring cash if you want to shop.
