An innovative, interactive and multi-sensorial museum, The Maritime...

An innovative, interactive and multi-sensorial museum, The Maritime Experiential Museum is the only museum in Singapore where visitors can experience Asia’s rich maritime history and discover Singapore’s past as a trading port.

This trip back in time begins along the ancient Maritime Silk Route, which recreates the sights, sounds and scents of the bustling bazaars and where you can interact with the exhibits. See a fascinating trove of precious artefacts from the Bakau shipwreck and Temasek archaeological site that can be found at the Maritime Archaeology Gallery. View life-sized ship replicas of Asian sailing vessels from the docks at the Historic Ship Harbour, and learn more about Asia’s maritime and cultural heritage through the museum’s education programmes.

This unforgettable visit ends on a nail-biting note in the 360º multimedia Typhoon Theatre where visitors ‘board’ a sailing ship and encounter a perilous storm. The most amazing voyage of discovery awaits at The Maritime Experiential Museum.

We never even realised we visited this! Its basically the entry and exit building to get to the Aquarium, you walk through these things on your way to the fish when the kids are more excited about the fish to stop and read, learn, about the Maritime stuff... so probably a good attraction, but badly placed, we did not even... We visited the SEA Aquarium which is in the same vicinity as the museum. It is near Universal and easily accessible. There are a lot of sea creatures to look and admire, so expect to spend at least two hours here. There are feeding times, so if you are interested check for them before visiting.

This is an interesting and informative section one has to pass through to the S.E.A Aquarium. However the information is restricted to South East Asian maritime history. This would have been great if it had covered the world maritime history. A number of people were snapping photographs with their families with the statues of historical travelers I was no exception.

Small but pleasant museum that focuses on South East Asia’s maritime trading heritage. Exhibits are well laid out and informative, unfortunately the subject matter is not explored in much detail. I found myself referring to Google for more information on the historical figures and exhibits. Sadly, we found the most impressive exhibit was the (free) huge open theatre AV presentation on... When we travel, we like to do things that locals do. It felt like sentosa island was more of a tourist attraction that anything else. Beautifully done, but pricey and touristy. Plenty of options for food and shopping, lots of things that you can do if you are there for the day. We took a cable car over (not a... More

That said it all. You can give it a miss if you want. Else, entry is normally included free in some of the tickets you bought for other exhibits. They did try some effort in putting together an exhibit, and the life sized replica of The Jewel of Muscat (a gift from Oman) is very nice (no boarding of vessel... More

This doesn't have many displays but some are ENORMOUS! Very informative and learned a lot about maritime history of south east asia/ china. It's attached to the aquarium so you get to see it on your way in. Allow another 20 minutes on your aquarium visit.

Thank Tessa H
