There is a high-end selection of boutique stores to check out. Way too expensive for my tastes but I am glad to have experienced this oasis in the heart of the city.Visited September 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 3 January 2023
- Jeff BYarm, United Kingdom76 contributionsGot visit while in SingaporeMy wife was keen to sample the original Singapore Sling cocktail. You certainly pay for the experience at $38 each. However my wife certainly had no problem enjoying & savouring it. We chose to sit outside at Raffles Terrace as the queue for The Long Bar was quite a wait and no problem being shown to a table straight away outside. Service was great and given a large bowl of monkey nuts to enjoy also. Definitely worth an explore of the hotel to take in the splendor.Visited February 2023Written 24 February 2023
- Karen1401_1033 contributionsGrandeur of SingaporeExperienced afternoon tea at Raffles Hotel which is a must. The grandeur and spender and decadence of the hotel was amazing. The tea arrived with a choice of specialty teas with your array of sandwiches, cakes and scones all of which was impeccable. So impressive.Visited March 2023Written 9 April 2023

We queued for about 15 minutes to get into the Long Bar for a Singapore Sling. It was so good we had two. Not a cheap option at 37 Singapore dollars plus service charge and some other charge, but it was worth it. Each table has a sack cloth bag of peanuts which you are encouraged to shell and enjoy with your SS throwing the shells on the floor .... only place in Singapore you can legally litter! Would we go back .....most definitely!!!!

…even if you don’t end up buying anything. It’s architecturally stunning all around. The Raffles Boutique in particular is great for buying gifts and there are lots of other (mostly absurdly expensive) shops to look at too. Mostly though, it’s about enjoying the amazing buildings of the extended hotel complex.

Everything about the hotel was perfect. The suite was beautiful and in keeping with the hotels era. The butler service was very good, the staff through out the hotel were attentive, friendly, polite and helpful. The bed comfortable, a pillow menu allowing for a change if desired. An elegant bathroom. Comfortable chairs and a table on the balcony to look at the garden, was very peaceful. Breakfast in the Tiffin Room was extensive and encompassing both eastern and western food, served promptly in lovely surroundings. Altogether a perfect stay for our 50th wedding anniversary. All the little extras to help us celebrate were much appreciated. The pool area was also a popular spot with us, reminiscent of a by gone era.

Having a short time in Singapore one place we had to vist was Raffles hotel. We went in the morning, yes it is an iconic hotel but if you are not a guest there you can only drink in the bar adjoning next door which I thought was little strange. I was approached by an official of the hotel and after saying I would like to take some photos inside I was pleasantly suprised to be told " please you are welcom" but still no drink inside .....

So what if you can't afford to stay at this sublime establishment. It is still enjoyable to stroll the grounds and visit the Arcade area and the Raffles boutique. Well the storefronts along the arcade area are most definitely uber designer expensive; however you can still enjoy visiting the Raffles boutique and pick a souvenir or two to commemorate your visit. Interesting collection choices. Are they a good buy ?....you decide. Last but not least you can still enjoy a spot of tea and cakes at this fine boutique.

Was surprised to find Sir Stamford Raffles in Raffles Hotel Arcade. There is also a beautiful and quiet garden where you can see people doing Yoga. Great place to have a break from the noisy city.

I thought that the Raffles hotel boutique was fantastic, - a great collection of nice things to choose from, and my husband enjoyed reading about the story of the hotel on a wall there. But the other stores in the Arcade are luxury brands of watches, photography and up on the first floor even furniture store which I am not interested in during a holiday.
