- HengSingapore, Singapore3,736 contributionsAwesome 3 hours hikeThis hike can be carried out in parts or as a whole, and so it varies from an hour to three, depending on individual hiking speed. I like to start at the beginning which is a short hike up mount Fabre near vivo city. I think there are about 4 entrances. Check your gps for details as it is not easy to describe in words. From here the hike will link to the Henderson wave which is an interestingly designed bridge which is in the form of a length of wave. From here, you will get a great view of the Telok Blangah area from a high point. I think you can get a great sunset view from here but I never come then so not sure. Continuing you will come across metal decking which offers a “tree top walk”. This leads to another bridge which crosses over to the Hort Parl. Another great attraction dedicated to plants and planting. Heading to the rear of the park, there is a short climb which leads to BUKIT Chandu war memorial which is inside Kent ridge park. From Kent ridge park, you can hike to science park and then to Ayer rajah industrial estate and to the One North area which is essentially a business park where you can find some restaurants. Nearest MRT is One North. This is about three hours of hiking through road, hills, pathways and parks. Enjoy.Visited February 2021Travelled soloWritten 7 March 2021
- FlyAaronUnited States766 contributionsOasis of trailsWhat an incredible or urban oasis away from the busy streets of Singapore. As you can see from the rating and all the reviews, this is a must do activity! Back in 2002, the city proposed to connect a series of parks which is now the Southern Ridges. The approximate 6-mile walk is mostly incline and decline pathways built for the average person. You will walk over beautiful foliage and will have some of the best skyline and water views. During your walk, you’ll pass by the Singapore cable car station. If you’re planning to use the Grab app to get you there and you type in “Southern Ridges”, the GPS of the app will take the driver to a section off of Alexandra Road. Don’t do this! It’s very dangerous to get out of the car on this busy roadway. It has barriers you’ll need to jump over in order to get to the trail. I highly recommend starting at the Harbourfront MRT station. During your walk, there are plenty of rest areas and bathrooms. Make this part of your visit!Visited January 2020Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 January 2020
- Andrew DSingapore, Singapore395 contributionsInstagrammable!I would say that the Southern Ridges is one of the best places in Singapore for travelers who are looking for an easy way to experience the natural sights without going too far off from the city center. Additionally, the beautiful bridge structure makes it easy to explore this area. It is also connected to many other surrounding nature parks so you could easily spend an entire day in this area!Visited October 2022Written 10 October 2022

This place is like a curated, structured, accessible walking spot. Occasional Bathrooms and drinks vending machines (the latter of which are a godsend!).
Spectacular views and interesting forest scenery. Worth doing all the way from Haw Par Villa to Monument, which probably took me about three hours in total!

This is a great hike for someone visiting Singapore but who wants to experience the mix of urban and green spaces, eg treetop walks, parkland, and jungle. There's a reasonable chance you'll see Monkeys (though there is much more wildlife around the Bukit Timah area)

It was a 30 minutes walk from Stirling Road to the Alexandra Arch Bridge, I visited the Hort Park the previous day but that day, I decided to explore the Forest Walk stretching from the Alexandra Arch to the Henderson Waves. The directional sign on the metal bridge indicated that the distance is 2.1 km. I was curious as it was my very first forest walk in the Southern Ridges.
As I walked further in the metal bridges, the noisy car engines, the polluted exhaust fumes and the bustling traffic which is so characteristic of Alexandra Road suddenly went into silence. In the forest greenery surrounding me, I heard only the chirping of the birds and the buzzing of the cicada and the crickets. It was high up from the ground walking on the metal bridges and I felt nervous initially gripping with height phobia when looking down through the perforated gapholes of the metal bridge. I managed to pick up the courage after some distance as my fleeting mind calm down and my focus turned to the greenery and my breathing.
This is a gem in this urban island located right in the city area yet far from the madding crowd. One second, I was breathing in the toxic exhaust fumes from the zooming vehicles and the next moment I was surrounded by forest greenery and breathing in bountiful of negative ions.
I admired the occupants of those black and white bungalows in Preston Road who live so near to nature. There were informative signboards on the metal bridges introducing the various species of trees, shrubs, birds, bats that inhabited the forest. The Henderson Waves is iconic as it gives an aerial view of Telok Blangah and the vicinity. There was an entourage of Korean tourists who just arrived and were admiring the spectacular aerial view.
As a city dweller, I was always busy, anxious, worried and my life hectic . The mind is always preoccupied with work and materialistic gain. It is in this forest walk that one finds calmness in nature, and gain the courage to overcome the fear and the anxiety which plagued one's mind.

For those who want to hike without experiencing a rugged terrain should visit this 10km trail. Trail connects Mount Faber and West Coast. Great vantage points of the city and the Southern Islands.

It can get very hot by 9am, so our advice would be to catch a taxi to the Mount Faber carpark. This avoids a steep set of stairs before you start your trek. If you like walking, then continue on to Hort Park and catch a taxi back. ( about 9km )

Second time doing this trail, even better as there was no rain but the temperature was cool and bearable.
Lots of shade and possible pitstops.

I cant recall there were any but I was not specifically looking.
I cant imagine the southern ridges being a perfect choice by the sound of it, lots of steps, very steep walks.
Some fragments of the southern ridges would be, that you can get to by car cutting out the energetic bits.
I would imagine the mount faber/faber point restaurant complex where the cable car goies from has handicapped facilities (and arboria is a great place to eat)

We have time to do the southern ridges walk. Just wondering whether walking in one direction is better than the other.
Thanks

I would prefer climbing the stairs from the Harbor front side, it is less strenuous.
Are there any showering facilities in the area or nearby?

Bonjour,
