The walks work on a simple principle: to bring people into places most other tours don't. Graveyards, smoke houses, wet markets, gun batteries, the city’s best-kept secret places. You name it, we have it. Since 2003, the Walks led by an eclectic bunch of researcher-guides have taken locals and travellers alike off the beaten track, and entertained with an endless store of anecdotes that reveal the true heart of the city. Pre-booking not necessary!

An extremely informative tour of the town of Changi, the beach where the massacre took place, battery and of course the Changi museum. Helena's knowledge was second to none and her personal stories made this tour even more moving. Being able to find my great Uncles name in the POW list and light a candle for him was very moving.... We selected a walking tour of the Changi museum. It was interesting, not too long, and gave me a great overview of WW2 from the Asian perspective - something that I knew very little about. Our guide, Wina, was extremely enthusiastic and really knew her subject and is passionate about it, which made it so much more interesting. I would... More

Amazing and astonoshing tour through Chinatown, its history and the modern life in red light district Geylang. We saw another side of Singapore which we never expected to see. Very cool tour guide and interesting and funny stories.

Helena did such a wonderful walk for us through Kampong Glam and the Sultan Mosque. She's so knowledgeable about Singapore history and its cultures. I suspect she is or was a school teacher of history? Great fun to listen to her excellent English, stories, and suggestions about other places to visit. One caveat...she suggested we visit the beautiful and tall... More

The Original Singapore Walks is a menu of walking tours led by experts in Singapore's colonial heritage and colourful history. As its brochure says, "The Original Singapore Walks operates on a simple principle: to bring people into places most other tours don't. Graveyards, smoke houses, haunted houses, wet markets, gun batteries, funeral shops, archaeological sites". The walks include "The Time... More

A very interesting walking tour. Our Guide Helena was extremely cordial and was full of nuggets of information. A great guide Chinatown and an interesting look at areas that may not be readily apparent. Its a long tour so be prepared for a long walk!

We did the Fort Canning and Battlebox tour with Sharul and the Chinatown and Secrets of the Red Lantern with Joanna. Both guides were excellent, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and considerate to their participants. The Fort Canning tour encompassed the very interesting early history of Singapore walking around the Fort Canning area and included a very welcome cool stop to sample some... More
