We went with our kids and family friends. We bought the economy class ticket. At Tanah Merah Terminal, the queue was fine and we have seats while waiting for the gate to open. However, from Bintan to Sg at BBT, the queue to go in was very long and they did not allow the passengers to go in first until it was ready for checking in. The worst part was there were no seats at all. Younger kids were getting impatient and I could hear scolding from parents. I would attribute all these to the long queuing and everyone was tired while standing for a long time.

After checking in, while there are seats at the waiting areas, after a short while, there was an annoucement and everyone started queuing and standing again. It was really tiring when going back.
But the vessal is huge with lots of seats. For economy class, there are no assigned seats. Hence on a first come first serve basis.

Unable to get a visa online due to their very poor website, I opted for the Visa on Arrival going to Bintan Seemed simple.
The staff in the little booth after arrival into Bintan said they don’t take credit cards. They do according to their poor website. He insisted on US dollars. To keep things moving I produced $40 cash. The visa is $25. He gave me change in Indonesian currency, which I could not take time to examine as the line was forming quickly.
Once at the hotel, I computed he gave me $5 in change. He had a nice $10 bonus. He saw a single female and pounced. Beware.
Have exact US or insist on credit card. The very best option is online visa if you can get it to function.
Finally got to Nerwani resort and it’s all good again!

The ferry from Singapore to Bintan takes an hour but international visitors need to be aware that you need to go through customs on both ends of trip. We had to arrive at Tanah Merah ferry terminal forty minutes before departure and had basic screening. On arrival in Bintan you need to buy a Visa for Indonesia at either $50SGD or in Rupiah and then clear customs with the basic screening. On return to Singapore, even if only on Bintan for a few days, International visitors are required to once again submit a new Electronic Visit Pass to enter Singapore. Wi-Fi at ferry terminal is not great so I advise people to do this prior to leaving Bintan as your previous pass does not cover you once you leave Singapore.

Terrible experience. I accidentally booked a ticket under Promotion with just $6 cheaper than normal rate for a round trip from SG to Bintan. When I clicked Booking, it was automatically choose the rate under Promotion and I didn't notice it at all. At the end, my passport couldn't return back to me on time, hence I called them and asked for a cancellation, after explanation they requested me to send a proof showing that my passport is still with the embassy, I did email and also explained the situation and also indicated that I was ok to pay any surcharge for cancellation. They promised to reply me on next Monday , I waited till Thursday but nothing came from them. I emailed them and they just simply replied as per terms and conditions there is no cancellation. And done, that's it. If you are using their platform for booking, need to pay attention carefully and also they cannot help you anything even though they ask you to furnish them something for them to assist, and will end up by loosing your money. It's like a trap!

Wow! Just came back from Bintan, what a f'ing nightmare that was! It's a shame because we just spent 5 wonderful days at the Banyan Tree but coming back was a freaking joke: firstly we had to be at the terminal 1.5h before departure which was not great since there was no air conditioning and the boarding gate didn't open for 1h. So we waited in a not so comfortable situation but at least the people on this side were nice and friendly. Finally the gate opens and we are let in to the other side: still no air conditioning and not a word from the official guys there, basically just let us through. Everybody around us is going to Singapore so we think we're fine. After a good 30 minutes there is an announcement which we can't understand but everybody stands up and gets closer to the gate so we follow. Then we see all these people getting on the ferry and we wait patiently under the watchful eye of a couple of guys in ferry uniforms. After about 20 minutes of that, people start getting agitated and confused because nothing is happening on our side. Turns out we are all at the wrong gate and the 2 idiots in uniform didn't bother to tell us anything even though we were all packed like sardines in the terrible heat and humidity. So I just went and had a couple of words with these fine specimen of customer service representatives who were not fussed at all. Anyway, after the ferry ride we end up at the terminal in Singapore and I tried 6 times to get a car to the airport with Grab but no-one was interested to pick us up because it wasn't worth their time. Some dudes came to offer their services, 1 for $55 and the other for $60 when the going rate on Grab was $25. Anyway after trying a 7th time we finally got a car and we are now sitting in the Singapore Airlines Gold Lounge ... but never again! Wow, I feel better now :)

Just some advise, don’t go to the ferry terminal too early in Singapore. It is really boring and there is nothing to do. The terminal building is old and not very nice rather spend some time in a cafe outside and come in just before you need to leave.

I booked this experience 2 months before departing to ensure I fits the correct time . I then got a refund 1 month later and no communication. I had to contract them and ask what happened. They said it was a glitch and I had to rebook however the same service wasn’t available. I don’t get why because I had to end up paying $70 more for the exact same ferry. This is an absolute scam. If I didn’t pay the extra for the exact same ferry I would have lost $300 I paid for activities. The customer service is extremely poor. I suggest going with a different coming. My complaints never got resolved.

We’ve used the ferry service a few times from Singapore to Bintan and it’s really a lottery on service.
When it works well it’s superb. However, it often doesn’t.

Last trip on December 29 we travelled Emerald Class as usual but someone, in their wisdom, decided to board all economy passengers first then open the doors for emerald so we joined the line at the back. Pure genius.

On the way back though we boarded first (like other times) and it was a breeze.

We had initially booked through Klook for a better deal. However, they did not have the preferred timings that we wanted. Hence, we decided to cancel Klook booking and tried to secure the timings via their website. Glad that we did, they were running a $10 ticket flash sales per way. Needless to say, we save quite a bit due to the flash sales they were having. Ferry was spacious and clean. Journey at the start was pretty smooth but became slightly bumpier towards the South China sea. Aircon was cold and overall a fuss free ride. Tips- Try to secure a seat towards the back of the boat and in the middle section so as to minimise seasickness.

Prompt check in. Service ran on time. We took the ferry over to Bintan Island. It was a wonderful experience. One thing to note, the ferry only accepts payment onboard for food and drinks in Singapore dollars (cash).
