This review is for the Outdoor Escape Room Game - Chinatown Street Murder. I am a local tourist guide in Singapore and if I give it 5 stars for this experience, you can imagine how much I must have enjoyed it!

Our tourist guide was Mr Tan Boon Yick. He brought along Henry, Aunty Geok, Raj and many character and they altogether told many stories about Chinatown. He is engaging and a great game master! I was greatly entertained and not to mention I was at the same time challenged by the puzzles. I didn't have time to solve the murder due to other business commitments. But I managed to do 4 of the 6 checkpoints and they are not easy yet fun! The word fun cannot sum it all, you just have to experience it. I am surprised and I bet you will too by the exceptional execution of this experience. You will not see Chinatown in the same way anymore after this. A great example of local tours for locals!

Quite a fun morning. The activity is a good balance between a heritage tour and an “escape room”, which were well-interweaved with each other. Throughout the game, our guide Desmond made sure there was constant progress so that we never felt too lost. We started at 10am and ended around 11.45am

My 13-year old son and I played the Chinatown Murders game under the guidance of Ms. Iris, and we thoroughly enjoyed this fun and educational experience. The game is a perfect mixture of just-challenging-enough puzzles and a professional and entertaining performance of the game guide. There is a bit of walking, but you don’t actually walk that far from where the game starts. Ms. Iris was happy to answer all our questions along the way. The game is great for adults and youths. I am very happy that my son spent 5 hours without a screen today (including traveling to and from the game site and stopping to get food)!!!

Glad you had fun with Iris! Now that you've tried Chinatown Murder, how about trying our next game-tour, Jewel Heist? Best part: It is fully air-conditioned! Looking forward to seeing you there!

Joined the Disappearing Trades tour on 11 May. It was a pity that the coffee roaster had asked to be removed from the tour's itinerary, but the decision was totally understandable with the Covid-19 pandemic coming on stronger recently. Thank you to our guide, Boon, for regaling us with stories about coffee and its origins nonetheless. For SGD98, it would be great if Tribe Tours could further beef up the itinerary in future.

Thank you for joining us on the tour despite the last minute change to our stop. At the request of our coffee roasters, they have asked for us not to visit during this period. They explained that their workers are older and any disruption to their workforce during this period will be like a death knell to their business. As such, we want to fully respect their wishes and instead of visiting the roasters, we have tweaked the itinerary to visit the other disappearing trades at the Chinatown Complex to make it an enriching, full 4 hour experience. We certainly hoped things will improve and we can restore to the original itinerary soon.

Chinatown Murder Mystery Tour -
It's not a race against the clock to solve the murder because you have more than your own group of friends ie strangers joining you on the tour; you kinda end up waiting for one another to be able to move on to the next 'station' although you or they have already solved the puzzle for a particular station.
Character role play was weak towards the end. Game wasn't very challenging either. We basically didn't feel engaged. For $50 a pop, 1.5hrs, we are unlikely to do it again but it was pretty fun if you want a simple stroll around Chinatown.

Great way to learn about the rich history around Chinatown. Iris stayed in character throughout which made her stories more intriguing and more easily remembered. Puzzles were fun too! The weather was a little energy zapping but otherwise a great concept and fun (time)travel activity.

Chinatown Murder Mystery: Desmond is an eloquent, engaging communicator who really elevated the experience of the murder mystery. He has great knowledge of the key landmarks of the area, and the whole experience was great fun. We were very impressed. Thank you Desmond!

Went on the outdoor mystery-solving tour with them. Learnt a bit more of the history of this area, of how the Samsui women settled here, of how the Indians used to live with the Chinese here and how Pagoda St got its name.

All this while solving puzzles to obtain clues to derive the serial killer, and clocking 7000 steps in the meantime.

The puzzles were well thought through and put together, yet still fairly easy to solve, especially when we are a group of 6, more brains put together.

Boon was an excellent tour guide and narrated well. I also appreciated the provision of individual receivers and ear pieces so we didn't have to strain our ears or stay too close together to hear him.

I enjoyed the tour thoroughly and highly recommend everyone to try. Locals can use your Rediscover SG vouchers for this, so essentially, free game-cum-tour, a 2hrs well spent.

Played the Chinatown Murder Games Tour. Very fun and informative tour! Puzzles were fun to solve and I really liked how they incorporated the actual physical surroundings into the game. Guide was knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend this tour!

Qualifier: I used S$50 of my Singapore Rediscover Vouchers to pay for this tour. While I enjoyed it, I don't think it was worth $50 per pax if I had to pay using my own money.
