Neighbourhood: Marina Bay
More of a mini city than a neighbourhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.

Given the cheap cost of entry I would say this museum is well worth the visit. When we visited they were displaying modern products attempting to solve future problems.
Many good product designs were on display, some applying to difficult and important problems. Others targeting first world problems or straight up fads.
Overall it was an interesting selection of products giving some insight into design problems and solutions that you can see everywhere around you if you're looking.

Saw this as place to go in a guide of Singapore. Not much advertising but we made the effort to go and see. We were pleased to have seen such an interesting show case of innovative ideas and talent.
We spend over an hour in the two storey building reading each exhibition and looking at the processes that went into their creation.
If you have a kid doing Design and Tech or similar in high school take them.

If you are interested in design - graphic design, interior design, industrial design etc you will LOVE this place. I spent 4 hours looking through the displays of Red Dot Design winners and was thoroughly captivated. This was absolutely the best value outing of our entire stay in Singapore. Everything in Singapore is so expensive - at $12 a ticket this is an awesome outing.

The Red Dot Design Museum is closed in its previous location in Maxwell Road. It is apparently due to move to a new location some time later this year, but details aren't yet finalised. The whole complex where it used to be located is currently undergoing extensive renovations.

I have been disappointed by the visit of the Red Dot museum. It might maybe be interesting for professional of design, but as an amateur I was quite disapointed by the few interesting objects you could see in the "museum". What is shown are the day to day products (plastic boxes, switches and sockets, sandwich packaging) and the 8 SGD entrance fee is much too expensive to be spent for that. I found that there were more interesting products in their (free entry) shop than in the museum!

The museum is relatively small, the space where the collection is exposed is sort of a factory hall. the collection is smal and not very impressive. You won't spend more than 1 hour here.
Not worth the entry fees, if you ask me.

Thank you for visiting and the feedback to the team. It is important to us and the team is conscious of the building’s shortfalls.
The design museum is housed in a 700 square metres space, which makes it one of the largest private museums in the region. The conserved building where the exhibition halls were created out of the original void however, although we would like to, the team could not do more to the building.
Nevertheless, the team will strive towards building more interesting content for our visitors.
The ongoing exhibition presents a contemporary design collection of over 1,000 red dot award winning exhibits and is the largest in Asia. The design museum also shares a design journey with our visitors, covering over 18 design related locations within walking distance from the museum which one can spend the day exploring about design.
The team will also provide better guides in future to explore the full range of works that are on exhibition.

Took a walk during a MAAD (Market of Artists And Designers) night! Admission is free on the 1st Friday night of each month. There's a flea market where designers/people sell their art & craft or some snacks. I spotted cupcakes & marcoons that night.
Quite an eye opener.I bought paste-on tattoos.

Singapore is better well-known for her city landscape or diverse cultures, but not for arts or design centric elements. Red Dot Design Museum certainly offers a different side of Singapore. Despite being there for a few times, I'm always impress with what the museum has to offer. Designer Collections, MAAD market during the first Friday of each month or the gift shop....

Visited this museum today. The ground floor is essentially a cafe and shop with lots of innovative gifts. The museum at one end was devoted to masks in an array of varieties. Quick look and upstairs to see the main collection - for this you need to buy a ticket for $10 per person which is refundable off food or purchases.
There are lots of nacky items upstairs - ergonomic fire extinguishers, hexagonal shaving razor and brush. Self locking muzzles for your dog and peculiar cutlery that reminded me of a half baked idea Cathay Pacific came up with in first class several years ago. Cutlery must be balanced and this certainly didn’t look it. Different clothing options and safety equipment. Interesting and informative to take a look around which I enjoyed.
Shop also have festive novelties with which I was impressed. Food at the cafe is good also.
Options to buy tickets online but not advantage and not worth the effort. Just pay at reception.
