About
Holland Village Singapore is a hamlet tucked away behind the Singapore Botanic Gardens and is less that 10 minutes away from Orchard Road. This little spot has been referred to as Singapore's "Bohemian" enclave because of its variety of art and craft shops, art galleries, art framing specialists, street cobblers, gift shops, novelty shops, gourmet takeaway outlets, wine cellars, organic food outlets, custom-made shoes shop, imported kitchenware store, body waxing specialists, international school uniform tailors, master tailors, theme party clothing store, tarot card readers, ethnic home decor articles, fine dining restaurants and many other interesting shops. These outlets serve the residents of the surrounding upper and middle class estates. You can witness expatriate housewives spending their day here having breakfast, running errands, meeting up friends for lunch and enjoying a nail spa before shopping for groceries and heading home.Retail establishments are located along four streets and two shopping buildings. These streets are: (i) Jalan Merah Saga (ii) Holland Avenue (iii) Lorong Liput and (iv) Lorong Mambong. The shopping buildings are: (i) Holland Road Shopping Centre, which is along Holland Avenue, and (ii) Holland V Shopping Mall, which is presently being redeveloped, along Lorong Liput. These two buildings are often casually referred to by sales assistants as Holland Village Shopping Centre, which is a non-existent building. All these streets are within walking distances and it is a good place to spend the day strolling, relaxing in a spa, shopping, having the meal of your choice and seeing the world go by at one of its famous pubs.

This is supposed to be an interesting neighborhood for shopping and the center of the expat community. However it was mostly under construction so it was difficult to wander and there was very little open.

Used to be a happening place but gone downhill. No sitting outside with a lot of places hardly open. Won’t visit again as really a waste of time and money

Was at Omma Holland village on 17 March 2022. We ordered our items and waited for closed to 20mins before anyone served us water and the appetizers! There after, another 10 minutes for raw bbq pork belly to be served. We ordered a beer but it never came after many times of checking with the staff! The staffs seem to be trained not to look at tables to avoid customers asking for more appetizers or water etc. The service is really bad! When we asked for the last time, the staff said she will checked but did not even allow us to finish our sentence! Also, they do not have social distancing among certain tables without mask on settings. Overall, I’ll not recommend this Korean restaurant OMMA unless you don’t mind the wait and poor service rendered! Can’t be bothered to take pictures because we are turned off by the bad service.

Quite the institution in singapore. From the main part of holland village to chip bee across the street, still a somewhat popular place for food and drinks. Notables include cold storage supermarket, the newspaper stand and 2am dessert bar

Love this area, full of restaurants, shops and beauty centers. Good to break the daily routine and grab a beer or choose among all the different restaurants. I usually go to have my manicure and pedicure and relax a little bit.

It is not a village in Singapore but in the heart of Sigapore with lots of activity. There is nothing like village atmosphere. There is the Colde Storage, a famous brand of chain store, selling different kinds of provisions and frozen foods, like chicken fish etc. There are lots of coffee shops, eateries, garment shops. There is even a cobbler& key maker in a corner. It is easily approachable, as there is Holland village MRT and also Bus stops & taxies. There are two or three streets inter connected with it and all glitter with lot of shops. One can stroll the area with family & friends & also purchase a lot of things and also enjoy good food.

50 years ago, Singapore island itself used to be a fishing village. And within it, there were many "hamlets", which are called "kampongs" by the locals. But, as it is quite apparent, there are hardly any "kampongs" around anymore.
Holland Village was given its name after the Dutch settlers when there were plantations on both sides of the its main road, Holland Road.
It would have looked like a village that you had imagined.

Nice ambience, for both locals and expats. Great choices of food, entertainment and night life. Easy accessibility via Holland village MRT station and buses. One of the night entertainment street closes to the cars at night, making it safer and better for partying

Are there any homes/apartments for short term rental

You must not know, but the housing rules in Singapore prohibit owners/locals renting out their private apartments to tourists for periods of less than 6 months. Search online for the URA Housing rules for short-term rentals, or we have information and warnings about it on the TripAdvisor Singapore forum. All the rentals listed on Airbnb for Singapore are not recommended because of these official housing rules and regulations.

I am visiting in December and planning on going to Long Beach.
Does anybody know what time the shopping centre closes?
Struggling to find that info online.
Thanks,

There are many places to shop beside Holland Village in singapore. The standard opening and closing time is from 10am to 10pm. But many eateries open until past 12 midnight.
