- StephyNaiPort Moresby, Papua New Guinea23 contributionsBugis market budget shoppingThe place to go for bargain shopping, the bags and suitcases here are of great quality and reasonable prices. You can always find a bargain here. There may be 1 or 2 that will haggle you until you purchase but most shop owners are very respectful and will mostly be recommending things that may be of interest. By far one of the best places to go shopping on a budget.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 October 2023
- doctorfoxtrotTaguig City, Philippines13,429 contributionsFeast for bargain hunters and cheap buysOn the outskirts of Bugis are several stalls and shops selling souvenir items and bargain buys. Even the food stalls offer cheap but delicious options. Only drawback was the humidity of the place in its entirety.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 December 2023

- SSHyderabad, India156 contributionsSomething for everyone !One street three experiences. Start with Bugis Street the place for the cheapest shopping spree. Prices here can be negotiated but be respectful. Quality is also in line with the pricing so don’t have very high expectations from what you buy unless you get lucky Go on to Bugis Junction a notch above street where smaller local brands have found their space and then move onto Bugis + where international brands have made home. Spend time walking around, catch a good meal at any of the restaurants and if you still have the strength to walk you can walk down to Haji lane from here as wellVisited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 12 December 2023
- Hugary1Sydney, Australia8,842 contributionsBugis StreetN different shopping centre to Raffle city and Marina Bay as it is a great deal cheaper. Still has a number of name brands but there are also reasonably or even cheap shops here to purchase goods from. We found that T shirts were quite cheap and there was of course food outlets. Well worth a look as it is often overlooked by tourist but not the locals.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 January 2024

- Maureen FMooloolaba, Australia22 contributionsSingapore holidayAbsolutely loved Singapore. So clean, easy to get around on the MRT and everyone was friendly. We stayed at the Holiday Inn express at Clarke Quay which was very close to everything. Although the room was small, it was cleaned daily and we didn't spend a lot of time there.....too much to see and do in this city. The Zoo, the Botanical gardens, Gardens by the Bay were all wonderful to see, especially at night and a visit to Raffles for a (very expensive) Gin Sling was a tick off the bucket list. Overall a city I highly recommend for a holidayVisited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 18 August 2024
- SahilChrunguNew Delhi, India1,970 contributionsPerfect Shopping DestinationOver 800 shops and stalls in different sizes come together to make the Bugis Street one of the best places for shopping in Singapore. After its renovation, the street is now all covered, which means that shoppers can have a good time without worrying about the scorching heat or the downpour; and choose from a range of clothes, accessories, footwear, electronic items, household goods, souvenirs, and other knick-knacks. There is an entire range of clothes of the latest trend that the street has to offer, though one will have to make some effort to look for clothes that suit the taste. Shirts and t-shirts here start at just SGD 10, and one can easily get a good pair of jeans for around SGD 15. Matching accessories are also easily available, and sunglasses and hats start from as low as SGD 5. Bugis Street is also the perfect place to source some souvenirs and knick-knacks from. Most of the trinkets here, such as key rings, postcards, and stationery items are available for as cheap as SGD 1.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 August 2024

Some colourful mosques add to the cultural experience. So many shops, easy to get lost when you go up the escalators to other levels. Great place to visit and shop.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 September 2024

Back here at Bugis Street after nearly 4 years. In the intervening years (probably during the pandemic), some repair work was done and the ground floor, at least the part where clothing is being sold is now air-conditioned.
As I said in my review a few years ago it is a different experience from the shopping centers. If you are able to find the drink and juice stall, I highly recommend the durian juice. The drink and juice stall has two outlets, with one outlet just near the crossing to Bugis Junction.

Bugis Street is just opposite the Bugis Tram Station. It was almost crowded when we visited. There are dozens of shops selling various daily necessities, clothing, 3C products, and food. Some of the passages here are very crowded. It is narrow, and the goods displayed by the merchants are many and even a bit cluttered. Relatively speaking, the prices here are relatively cheap. If you have enough time, you can come from the Arabian District and wander around, and you may be able to find treasures.

Fun place if you are near Bugis junction or Malaysian town. Cheaper shopping and eating alternative to the big malls. Lots of souvenir shops and small shops selling woman's clothing for $5-$10. Across the street is Albert Hawker Centre if you need to eat. Worth a visit to get away from all those regular pricier malls.
There are some cheap places to get ice cream or pork jerky or lotus cakes near entrance.

So I often read about Bugis street and the shopping that is it is a must go if you have time, so, I did.
It is very busy and has 3 stories of little shops ranging from food to clothing to souvenirs. The 3rd floor has alot of beauty facilities like getting nails done to massages.
Due to time constraints we didn’t try all that out but we did find a few cute pieces of clothing for my daughter.
You cannot try the clothing on there as there are jo change rooms, however, I was pleasantly surprised at the fashion and what was available. Prices are mostly fixed but
You can try.

Back in the 50s and early 60s this was well known by the Bristish servicemen in Singapore as the "red light" district. It is now a busy market where you can buy anything. Lots of "strret food" stalls close by where the food is very good and very cheap.

How far is Bugis St from the cruise terminal? Is it possible to get a bus there?
Written 11 February 2020
Take the Metro (MRT), fast and cheap.
From the end station is a 10-15 mun walk with your suitcases.
Or take a cab, not expensive in Singapore.
Save you a walk. Just depending on your luggage (suitcases or backpacking).
Enjoy your stay jn SIN :-)

Hello there, yes we took the MRT to the Bugis Station, which lets you off through the mall there. From the mall, Bugis Street market is just across the road.
