Now a government building, the windows of this are painted different colours. It is quite good to look at with the Fort Canning Park behind and some not so colourful buildings around.

The building used to belong to the police and is now a government building. They have done a nice job recovering the colonial building. It definitely calls your attention as you go by it. There are sone galleries there as well.

The architecture of the building is certainly eye-catching with its very colourful shutters and 'stoic' style. Many people spoken to remembered it for those reasons but didn’t venture inside at all. There are some government offices there but also some interesting art galleries (mainly Asian artworks) that can be visited with no charge. It was woth a look inside.

It was refreshing and interesting to see this colorful old building. We were on our own walking tour to discover places nearby and were delightfully impressed with this building. Worth a visit just to take pictures. We did not enter.

The MICA building is beautiful and stands out in Clarke Quay due to the colourful window frames which adorn the building.
Take time to enjoy it from the outside.

This building is located opposite Clarke Quay.
The building is restored to its former glory and each window is colored to liven up the buiulding. The ground floor houses art galleries, while the upper floors house the offices of the government ministry: Ministry of Communication & Information.

Of course the building looks very cheerful and inviting on the outside. Ironically, the MICA building at 140 Hill Street, is mainly known for having been the Old Police building. It now houses several life-enhancing ministries: culture, youth and civilization. Don't just go by to admire the rainbow of cutely painted shutters. There are several galleries here and, as usual, galleries change their displays. So it's annoying to come across reviews that dismiss the shows as irrelevant to the viewer or too expensive. These are variables that change from day to day. Right now, the "Cape of Good Hope Gallery" is displaying the works of two of the rightly most important Singaporean artists, Ang Ah Tee and Li Tze Peng. Look them up. Then, just go and look and learn. No purchase necessary.
In two more galleries, The "Gajah" and "Art2" there are now altogether four works of the superb Chua Ek Kay, a Singaporean master who died too early to teach the current trend-setters and millionaire-shufflers of the West a thing or two about REAL art. In the final analysis, the thing to do before one visits is to search these places and those artists. Then and only then attempt to write reviews.

The primary purpose of this building is to house 2 Singapore government ministries, specifically the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth; and the Minsitry of Communications and Information. As such, most of the building isn't accessible to the general public. On the ground floor, however, are several art galleries with various mainly Asian art for sale. It's easy enough to just admire the building as you walk along the river towards Clarke Quay.

Heard that the art galleries inside this building are a "good find', I decided to go there and have a look. Knew beforehand that the galleries mostly specialize in south East Asian art and since I'm not a fan, I went in with low expectations . The 1st 2-3 galleries were small and dull, with average service. The next one I visited deserves special mention, Tembusu gallery. It's manned by 2 teenagers. Playing computer games. During my 10minutes in there, they totally ignored my presence and continued to shout at each other about the computer game. What a disgrace to art. The last gallery also has a special mention. Gajah gallery. It's the largest and nicest gallery, but alas pretentious , with no prices displayed and a snotty salesperson. It has the most obscene video art I've also seen, so wow
