I originally passed this building on the Hop on - Hop off bus.
It’s eye catching. The outside is a spectacle of Art Deco architecture and Great Sculptures.
On returning to have a closer look, the interior is even more amazing.
Apparently the locals call it the Batman building and it does feel like you’ve walked into a Gotham City movie set.
The Bar Restaurant within looks fantastic.
A must see for those who love Art Deco and just for the architecture in general.

while visiting Singapore we were lucky enough to see inside this amazing building. Stunning doesn't cover what delights the eye. We only walked around the ground floor but found the interior as if not more spectacular that the outside architecture

I came here for the love of architecture to see an example of a Neo Art Deco building. An office block with restaurants and several embassies, it’s reputedly some of the most expensive office space in Singapore. The building is simply stunning with all the classic Art Deco elements of long straight souring lines with sculptures of faux support. In the courtyard, there are many artworks, though these are a mixture of modernist and visual arts.

Unfortunately the museum was closed when I visited, but I took a look inside anyway The restaurant on the ground floor is another fine example of Art Deco, again with all the classic lamps, balustrades and relief sculptures.

No other place in Singapore will you find a building of this style. The office tower resembles New York City's Chanin building and is nicknamed the "Gotham Building." Hand-crafted detailing with brown granite graces the outside. We were told this building houses the Embassies of Austria, Mongolia and the U A.E.

I was vistiing a business in this Building, and chanced upon Atlas Bar and Restaurant in one of the most beautiful Art Deco Halls in the World.

You should make a Special visit to this place. I had an "Old Tom" Gin and Tonic which was also beautiful. I heartily recommend one of those too. Sit at the Bar and look up at the structure of the Building. A modern Wonder!!

This is an interesting Neo Art Deco building between Suntec and Kampong Glam. The architecture is very Art Deco, colonial before WWII with interesting art all around. We walk through its portico on the main sidewalk. It was simply different and interesting.

If your a fan of art deco you will love this place. The interior & exterior are stunning with fabulous photo opportunities . Like the other travellers we found this place completely by accident amd are very glad we did. We were actually looking for the Raffles building but found this first . Dont miss seeing this place if you get chance but I think its really a place for adults rather than young children .

Seen ‘Gotham City’ in Singapore yet? Yup, Singapore has an art-deco style building that’s referred affectionately to as Batman-City or Gotham City! The mishmash fusion of east-meets-west, jaw-dropping office building comes complete with gargoyles, sculptures and statues surrounding the area.

Although it looks dark and foreboding (like Gotham City), just walk on in, there are no guards to stop you from eye-balling the place once over -- especially if you’re in the area or just an avid photographer.

Located within a 5-minutes walk from the Bugis MRT Station and Bugis Junction, ‘Gotham City’ fronts North Bridge Road. Upon entering the building, in the open area, there’s an elegant golden crane taking flight, supposedly towards the direction of Mainland China. There’s a Chinese poem written on the placard reflecting the feelings of its homesick Taiwanese owner (of the building).

A stroll around the open plaza area and the immediate lobby will bring you face-to-face with statues and sculptures of famous men including Sun Yat-sen, Abraham Lincoln, Salvador Dalí, Mozart, Chopin, Isaac Newton, Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt, Shakespeare, Plato, Dante, Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein.

Wikipedia says the building “was designed by the US firm James Adams Design, together with DP Architects of Singapore. It was built as the last major project enterprise by the late Mr C S Hwang, a Taiwanese tycoon chairman of Chyau Fwu Group.”

Before leaving the building, do consider sitting in the lobby area for either cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Don't think anyone will be disappointed as the high ceiling impresses with its decor-style and there’s so many things to see. The main attraction here is a 3-storey high wine chiller and it seems that there is a female bar tender (dressed as a fairy -- don’t ask why...) who retrieves bottles on request by means of a flying wire apparatus.

Makes for an entertaining afternoon or evening event.

Parkview Square, an office building across from Raffles Hospital, is quite possibly the most bizarre and amazing homage to the art deco movement that you will ever encounter. If Albert Speer had been commissioned to build an art deco office building, this is what he might have come up with. (If you are too young to know who he was or have never bothered to learn about World War II, then look him up on Wikipedia!)

Like some of Albert's works, this place is just full on and the inside even out does the outside. The lavishness is stunning. The building was constructed about a decade ago by one of the property tycoon families of Hong Kong (the Li's I think), and was meant to be a statement of their wealth, power, and an homage to the art deco movement. Wow, what a statement; there is absolutely no subtlety in this place. There are numerous references to Gotham City in the reviews, and it certainly has the feel of a Batman set with all of the dark granite framing gilt statues. The four large elevated sculptures on the upper stories of the facade give it that 1930's "the future is technology feel".

Money pretty much buys everything these days. It certainly bought this build. And while completely over the top, this building could have been a whole lot worse; it could have been a full on Batman tribute. The large statues on the upper stories of the facade could have been a line up of Batman villians - the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler and Catwoman. Rather than a courtyard full of gilt statues of such luminaries as Issac Newton, Albert Einstein, Frederic Chopin and ilk, we could have had Adam West, Micheal Keaton, George Clooney and all the other B-grade actors who have donned the leotards and exterior black y-fronts.

So go see Parkview Square, and appreciate it for the statement of wealth that it is. I give it 5 stars because it is free - Mr. Li paid for it and he wants you to see it! And when you are done, walk 100 meters up the road to see the historic Sultan Mosque for a contrast in what refined, tasteful, and lasting architecture should be.

Stumbled across this building on my way to Kampong Glam. I was completely drawn in. One of the most incredible buildings I have seen. It’s an office building which houses 5 embassies (well, that’s what I was told). Allow time to check this out. You won’t be disappointed.
