We were looking for a walking tour of Singapore that involved sampling local food and this certainly ticked that box as well as providing a fascinating insight into the history of the Geylang area. Our guide, Leong, was knowledgeable and friendly but be warned, you spend a long time on your feet so make sure you turn up rested (and... More

I joined the joo chiat food walk tour. The guide was really knowledable and friendly. I learned the culture, history of Singapore and sampled many different local food. I would definitely recommend it to others!

A really worthwhile wander through the history of Singapore, the local customs, magnificent temples and of course the food. From an early morning coffee stop with eggs in the MTR station, to an exploration of a wet-market this was the best way to get to grips with the city. A visit up a local tower block offered great views, and... More

Fantastic tour with right combination of culture, singapore history, local information and food. We had two teenagers as part of our group and they thought all fabulous and came away with quite a bit of knowledge. Our tour leader Leong was exceptional - a great time had by all.

We went on the Sins and Salvations Geylang Food Walk and it was fantastic. It was so interesting to see a side of Singapore that you never see in the tourism brochures. Our guide Leong Woon was very informative and knew a lot about the area and Singapore as a whole. Would recommend to anyone looking to see a different... More

We did the Chinatown Food Tour with Leong and it was great! Leong has a strong knowledge base of Singapore's history and tells it in an interesting way. We enjoyed every dish we tried. The pace was great - maybe too much food!

My husband and I did a private "Singapore Miracle" tour with Leong Woon. It was perfect for us because we'd seen most of the major sights on a previous visit, and wanted to learn more about Singapore's history and culture. It was fascinating to understand how the city has grown over the years and visit the various neighborhoods. Leong Woon... More

This was a great introduction to understand an integral part of Singaporean history and culture.Leong was incredibly knowledgable and shared wonderful information about Chinatown. It was a small group, so he was able to answer all the questions that were thrown at him. Obviously, there were opportunities to eat the local food but each location stop gave real insight to... Great tour with Leong who is an excellent tour guide. Fantastic insights not only into different Food and culture but also the housing development of Singapore which gave the tour a broader perspective. Can highly recommend it.

There's nothing like a small private tour to see and experience "The Real Singapore" with Leong Woon. Leong was an excellent guide who showed my wife and I the sights in and around Singapore before we boarded a Southeast Asia cruise. Leong was very knowledgeable and personable and I would highly recommend him.

Staying in Geylang

Neighbourhood Profile
Geylang
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city centre, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colourful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
