The Central Business District is really busy during the week, because all big banks or companies are located in this area. Therefore, lot of people coming with the MRT, and many restaurants or fast-food in this area.
Except that nothing exceptional to visit, Watch or do. Prefer other areas more interesting.
And during the week-end, it's "dead", everything closed.

The central business district is filled with skyscrapers, like most of the central business districts in other countries. The historical part of this was that Singapore was striving on trade in the beginning. The Singapore river was a very busy port in those days with bum boats transporting goods from bigger ships anchored out in the sea. This is where it all began!

Do yourself a favor and just hang around raffles place during weekday lunchtime. It's good fun to just people watch and see what the working folk are up to. There is not really a great selection of places to eat in this vicinity though so you would be better off eating somewhere else. Just come here to go and look during your business meetings or take a tip and go to change alley to exchange money. The rates are the best in town (so much better than the airport or the shopping centres).

The Good =)
~Plenty of fine dining options.
The Bad =(
~Crowded during the lunch-time.
~Long queues for popular F&B outlets due to the lunch-time-madness from 12 to 2pm.
My Tip for future visits:
~Get a local to guide you around.

Opposite Merlion Park, you can see Central Business District or CBD, iconic place in the tall of towers, amazing arrangement and decent people.

Just like any other city in the world. Singapore is my home, the only proud moment to tell the world these skyscrapers are beautiful and you come take alook. In terms of placement and unity of the buildings. I think they are beautiful.

Impressive center of business. So many banks and sky scrapers. The best way to admire it is Marina Bay from the roof top.

This area is great for an architecture fan. From the Cavanagh Bridge the area extends along the river and further. It was great to see one skyscraper had blended the facade of the past building in that spot into its glass frontage. There were colonial buildings that showed this island's amazing heritage. Just a look to the sky and see futuristic structures

Hello,
This is Mrittika from India.
Am visiting Singapore from 23-Feb'15 till 1-Mar'15 for vacation along with my parents. Let me know the popular restaurants or cafés onsite/nearby? Also, how do I get there using public transportation from Hotel Park Sovereign-Albert?
Thanks.
