I didn’t realize there were so many different kinds of orchids! Plan to spend a few hours leisurely walking through the garden. So many varieties to see. Definitely use mosquito repellent. Bug bites made the experience less enjoyable.

The most underrated visiting place in Singapore. If you get enter inside the orchid garden you will see a lots of expensive orchids are ready to welcome you. My suggestion please charge full of your camera and phone for photo session. Don't miss the sembcorp cool house. You will also see the celebrity orchid garden where different species of orchids are named after those celebrities... It's simply a orchid heaven.

The colours are amazing. Blooms to die for. The height they grow to is astounding. Do not miss a thing.

What amazed me was the upkeep of the place and once in you may feel outside the city lost in some forest but it is housed inside city. Upkeep of the place is 10/10 and all kudos to staff for maintainig this. Good place for couples and families to go and do some insta shoots

A fabulous place to see and learn about many different types of orchids.
$15 per person to get in...very reasonable.
A must see.

Stunning and well worth the ticket price. Also a great place to cool off if you are not used to the heat.

We often visit the National Orchid Garden - we had our wedding dinner at Burkill Hall, so the place is significant for us!
The new section is amazing... we could easily spend hours there along the cool walkways. Orchids are so interesting - each is unique, as well as being beautiful.

Best time of year to visit

The Orchid Garden is a year round attraction. Its continuously maintained to put the best flowers in the displays in the best condition. Time of year wont affect the trip timing but you will want to see if the gardens are blocked off in whole or in part for either renovations or for events that may affect the timings of a visit.

I am coming back in 2021, will the gardens still be as awesome or are there more things to add? We are coming in April so hopefully the weather will be perfect and so will the orchids and plumerias be in bloom?

Hello! The orchids were stunning when I was there in late March this year and the gardens were magnificent - I'm not sure what they'll be like in 2021 although Singapore sets such high standards, I'm sure you won't go wrong paying the gardens a visit! I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Do not know but if you can reach any station on the MRT stop at the Botanical Gardens station and follow the map if the gardens to the Ochard garden inside the Botanical Gardens.
The Map is right inside at the entrance in a kind of pist bix to keep it dry.

Hi, I am planning a visit with two kids.
Which of these gardens would you recommend for kids?
Cloud forest, Botanic, Gardens by the Bay or the Orchid Garden
and how much time should I reserve for these?
and what time of the day is best?

Living in Singapore , basically it´s always hot in Singapore, however, problem is more the high humidity. So first advice (if u allow me 2 do) from my side, don´t pack too much in the daily program. :-)
Having 3 kids by myself, can tell you that they found orchid garden pretty boring, instead of my wife.....so this is more for adults.
With kids would go to cloud forest, another traveller above describred perfect what u can do.
Garden by the bay is good, kids can run around (tell them to be carfull crossing the roads, they have to share with bicycle and e-scooter riders, which some are very fast and especially the escooter really silent. There are also special cafe bars and restaurants for kids, they will enjoy for sure.
There is also a huge foodcourt, were you can get BBQ all kinds of food. I like this prawns grilled with a cold beer.....fantastic!
Howver, why not instead of of all of this visit with your kids Sentosa Island? This is entertainment for the whole family. I am sure after this, you will be hero. Prebooking is recommended, because to line up in th emorning for tickets can spoil the whole day. You can get the tickets via internet, some hotels offer ticket service as well.
Don´t forget to book a DUCK Tour! This is a swimming bus, first u ride through Singapore, and then "jump" into Kallang river and drive like a boat sightseeing.....wise....very funny.
BTW: You can go to the sportshub as well, there ur kids can climb, iceskate, bowling........
If you have more questions....ask!
Hope I could help.

Can you get there from cbd by public transport ?

Yes you can. Taxis in singapore cam be a bit expensive. You can take public transport like the met (botanical gardens mrt) and even the bus. Only drawback is that if you travel on public transport you need to walk a lot. 😊

Is the garden in full bloom throughout the year or is there a particular time frame to visit?

are you able to bring orchids back into Australia after buying Singapore.

I don't believe you can, unless you have a specific import permit for it. You would have to go to the customs website to confirm.
