Always assumed that the Singapore Zoo would be something extraordinary. Unfortunately my experience didn’t reach expectations.
Great highlight was the elephant viewing experience along with the Rhinoceros enclosure.
Plenty of construction leading into the Zoo which will be great for future visitors.
Entrance and welcome to the zoo lacked any thrills or excitement.

The whole place is under construction. It's extremely difficult to get in and out and they allow far too many people to enter at the same time. The food and toilets are awful and they don't employ enough staff so you queue for an hour or more. You can never ever book a show. We have been several times (sadly) and it's impossible to book a show, it's a total shame. They only want high rollers or influencers to come. Such a disappointment.

The zoo is not in the city, so if you are staying in the city you can either get there by a combination of MRT and bus or a taxi. Be aware that when you return there is not a dedicated taxi rank as it too far from the city for drivers to sit and wait for potential passengers,
I booked my ticket in advance and was the first to enter the zoo at 9am. it got busier throughout the day as there were parties of school children. It is an open zoo so seeing animals is easier as there are no cages or glass. Obviously with the indoor facilities certain species ar behind glass for safety reasons.
There is transportation throughout the zoo should you not wish to walk and plenty of toilets and restaurants.
I enjoyed the butterfly house as they can sometimes land on you. I also enjoyed walking through an area with exotic birds and a couple of lemurs. If you are lucky as I was, you can spot wild monkeys in the trees.
I was very fortunate to arrive at certain enclosures for feeding time, which is great to see animal behaviour. As Singapore is always him some of the animals seek shade to escape the heat, so there's no guarantee you will see them up close.
There is a lot of building work going on as the zoo is being extended.
A great day out to escape the city.

Having wanted to go here for so long I really looked forward to this visit. The actual zoo was great but as an older person and not in the best physical shape I should have planned better. My advice is to use the shuttle service to get around because the humidity is very high. As someone from Australia I got to see alot of amazing animals that I have never seen.
My wife and I were amazed at how close we could get to them.

This zoo is stunning in some parts and you can see they are trying really hard to provide a decent enclosure for the animals. Some animals have a beautiful enclosure and others are not so lucky but I can only assume the zoo are working on that. We went for the Orangutan breakfast which was a lovely experience.

Best zoo anywhere! Beautiful design with no enclosures anywhere to be seen . I did the breakfast with the orangutan experience and was more like an African Safari experience. Also would mention the free trolley available to ride the entire perimeter. By riding the trolley you get a great view of almost all the animals.

A day I will remember forever. It was absolutely wonderful. Lovely spacious enclosures for the animals. And if you want lunch there are many choices and it's not expensive

It was amazing, the animals seemed well treated, the food was decent and we got to see oragutans outside of their habitat, I highly recommend for evryone who loves animals, their variety of reptiles was immpresive and they had very many animals. They offer a free ride on the carousel for kids, included in their ticket. No it is not an attraction park, it is only highliting the animals.

We visited the zoo on a rainy day, so it wasn’t too busy which was great. It’s not too large and we managed to get around the entire zoo in a morning. I enjoyed the day, but have been to better zoos around the world. All the animals looked well cared for, we are members of Chester zoo (uk) and that’s far superior. Glad we visited but much preferred river wonders.

i am in a wheelchair. why is the zoo considered not wheelchair friendly

I wasnt aware it was considered wheelchair unfriendly?
Grabbing the map and looking at it to remind myself. THe zoo is built with slopes wherever possible.
Some areas are steep though - the Baboon area, and up and down to Reptopia are places where there are some steep sloping and the same for some access points to the Primate kingdom but is a lower steepness access point for those areas (though the less steep one for the baboons still has somewhat of a slope.
With someone assisting with the chair Id say they would still be completely accessible on the steeper slope access routes although those points would be more of a challenge when self pushing.
The trams either have some wheelchair slots, the ability to help you into a seat and transport the chair (though I wouldnt use the tram to get around myself even able bodied).
In Fragile Forest you wouldnt be able to get up onto the feeding platform |(steps) but you would be able to go around the exhibit.
Elephants of Asia has steps to seating but has a dedicated wheelchair seating area, so does the Shaw Foundation Amphitheatre.
All the marked toilets include a disabled toilet
Given those I have seen wheeling round or using the rentable mobility scooter Id say it appears fairly well adapted - though I dont have the full perspective a wheelchair user would have.

We are just interested in going to the Zoo during the daytime just to see the animals, not interested in the feedings or night Safari, can we just go on the day we want and pay cash at the entry gate or do we hay to pre book and pay on-line ????

The ticket sale office is a room next to the entry gates, this is in the undercover area where the food court is.
You can pre pay to save time depending when you go.
If on hols, midweek is a good time, far less crowds.
You can take the shuttle bus from Khatib Station, Bus is located pretty much at the last bit of undercover awning outside station.
Enjoy

Anyone use SRV voucher encounter the day visit raining? Is there a chance to get replacement ticket to visit the park again?
Myrm
Cambridge, UK17,808 contributions
Rain doesnt get a refund on regular tickets. I would assume the same holds for SRVs.
I have seen a number of youtubers visit during rain and they never mention getting refunds but I cannot cite personal experience as Im just a regular visitor to Singapore not a resident.
Try it and report the result would be my other answer.
How much is the entrance fee going to singapore zoo? And what time will be open?

Around $35 US dollar. Including night safari. Very hot and humid make sure just wear light clothes especially walking for hours. Buy your ticket online coz maybe too crowded, to make sure and to avoid the long line.
Enjoy and have a fun trip.

Hi, I wanted to know about the direct bus to and from Singapore Zoo & Night Safari if we do the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari in one day. How do we buy tickets (leave city in the morning and depart the Zoo late at night)? How much does it cost?

Taxis in Singapore are safe, reliable and reasonable in pricing. You may take a shuttle bus from Khatib MRT station directly to the zoo or book the Mandai express if you are going to the zoo on weekends and public holidays. However my suggestion is to take a taxi back after a whole day of walking and exploring. Tickets to both the Parks can be purchased in a combo set from the zoo website. You get a 20% discount if your purchase it online. Enjoy your trip!

What is the easiest way to get from Singapore Zoo to River Safari? Are they close enough to walk to each other? Or would I need to take a taxi/bus?
Myrm
Cambridge, UK17,808 contributions
Singapore Zoo and River Safari share taxi drop off point. When the pandas first arrived but the River Safari wasn't fully constructed you could enter the panda enclosure from the Zoo (it backs onto what used to be Inuka's enclosure. So they are right next to each other. Takes a couple of minutes to walk from gate to gate. I personally would have to rush to fit both in a day and give up shows etc so I tend to pair the River Safari as an afternoon before the Night Safari myself rather than the Zoo....light morning so you dont get tired and they work together.

We are traveling to zoo along with a 3 yr old and are planning to cover zoo plus night Safari. What time is good to reach the zoo? We will be visiting on Sunday.

It all depends on the weather that day.
If it is cool and breezy, your 3 years' old will be able to endure better.
If it is warm and muggy ,then your 3 years' old is likely to become cranky as the hours progress.
Having said that, the Zoo has a lots to offer.Check out the feeding time of specific species and be at that enclosure to appreciate their behaviours.
The Night safari is a very different experience.
As it will be long day, use the riders to get to different enclosures and pace yourselves. Baby pushers are available. Carry your umbrellas and water.

I am travelling to Singapore Zoo with my 5 yr old. Can the stroller available on rent in Zoo accomodate a 5 yr old weighing around 20 kg?

Definitely! I saw many young families with kids in strollers or pull along wagons. If you are unsure, just email them first.
