- Mercy RSharjah, United Arab Emirates51 contributionsGreat walk. The views were amazing and we took many photos. It was a great walk around along the river side. There were lots of cruises along the river. Had a relaxed time at the clark central and walked on to raffle place.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 March 2024
- Brown_SamanthaKennewick, Washington1,781 contributionsLovely part of Singapore loads of shops, cafes, restaurants, things to do on the riverWe enjoyed this river front area very much. Easily reachable via MRT. We came during the day as well as night time. Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, ice cream parlor, and bars. In the day time, we got snacks and walked around a bit. It really comes to life at night. With the temperature much cooler and the river water cooling effect, it is very pleasant! Many bars and lounges with live music, even found a salsa band playing. Definitely spend some time walking through the alleys, we came upon a water fountain feature. Got some drinks and sat to people watch for a while. The route "between the two bridges" was quite doable. Took some colorful night photos. Wonderful spot to hang out.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 March 2024

We have had a lovely 5 days in singapore, visiting all of the tourist tick boxes. Singapore is a great city, innovative, clean and safe. What it doesn't have is a clear pricing policy when it comes to food and drink.
When you buy most items here, the advertised price is always gross, therefore the price you see is the price you pay. This is not the case when you use most restaurants and bars. Everywhere we went, the final bill was increased by 20%, a big difference to what you thought you were going to pay. Although we got used to it, it still seems to be a scam to get punters in through the door buy offering what seems to be a good deal, only to find that the true cost is a great deal more.
Last night, at Clarke Quay we had bill issues in two separate establishments, Harry's bar and Cafe Cuba Libre. We use the Entertainer app, are well used to it having used it for many years un Dubai. On both occassions, the bars tried to con us with the bill.
In Cafe de Libre, we had a pint and a g&t. One of the drinks should have been free, yet the waitress still tried to charge us 38$. She was about to take our money when I questioned the bill. Once she knew I was aware the bill was wrong, she tried to back track by saying that this was not the discounted bill, and the "real" bill was less. Why give me the un-discounted bill in the first place ?.
The cost of the pint was then charged at 20$, far more than you would expect to pay elsewhere in Singapore.
The same tactic was used in Harry's bar. When asked if the Entertainer App was used much in Singapore, she answered that it was used frequently, thus cementing the fact that they were used to dealing with it.
I do not see any justification in advertising a nett cost of services, apart from enticing clients into thier establishments at what apears to be reasonable costs, only to have to pay a lot more at the end of it. This practice doesn't happen anywhere else, why are they allowed to get away with it ?
Really spoilt what should have been a great holiday by always gaving to gave to check and doubke check each bill

This place is packed with bars and restaurants, boutique shops and nightclubs, and many restaurant types to choose from. Also, can hop on a river cruise from here or just have a good evening walk. Plenty to see and do and if your in the area and want to partake this is the place.

We found that a day trip through this quay laid back with very scenic water views and moored boats. The stroll along the river was very picturesque with colorful restaurants and shops on both sides of the river. Of course this area is noted for its nightclubs and pub scene and we did not hang around for the club crawls and vibrant music vibes. None the less, this area is unique in history and scenic points. You would have to stroll beyond the quay itself and spend more time to view the museum and temple surroundings.

We went here for drinks one evening, and sat in one of the bars around the outside by the water. It was very nice and the atmosphere was good. We walked through the inside on our way out though, and in there it was very loud and rowdy. Loads of bars to choose from though if that's your thing!

In the area of the old port, well converted, there are now restaurants of all kinds. Those who give directly on the river have slightly higher prices, but in the others you eat well at more reasonable prices. We went there earlier in the day and it had the appearance of a dull carnival. In the evening, however, it moves with the lights that make it suggestive.

This is a thriving spot with plenty of choice of restaurants, bars etc. We took a boat tour of the harbour at night which was spectacular. The sights around this area are amazing - and at night, the lighting just makes it all the more interesting. Definitely worth a visit - and best at night!

In a bend of the Singapore River and the center of the city, Singapore has created a hospitality and entertainment district that is a must see for any visit. We visit twice, the first to eat at Violet OON and the second to catch a River Cruise, this is where you do that. The entire district is shops, restaurants and bars connected by covered pedestrian walkways. The covering is a feature of its own. These umbrella translucent structures double to provide some protection against sun and rain and also serve as the back drop for a multi colored light show once the sun goes down. It is a lively entertainment district.

Since they opened in the late 90s, like an extension of the wildly popular Boat Quay, it was the Pubbing and Clubbing scene. From the Early days of Funky Town to MOS, to eventually Zouk when they had to move from Jiak Kim. The last decade or so, as the culture of pubbing declined and trends move towards dine and wine, there's still a strong culture of clubbing here but an uptick of opening restaurants and bistros replacing Pubs. Through the decades, many of my drunken evenings spent here as we outgrew that phase, much memories were made. Now in 2020 we have Covid19 which is a hard time for F&B. During the pandemic lock down, most were closed here as I jogged here daily. Now with reopening in phases, activities started to resume, especially over the weekends. Still a great place to wine and dine with a nice ambience and great views. As we reel away from pub and clubbing.

I recommend doing the cruise around sunset to get some photos and to enjoy the serenity of the bumboat. Follow that up with a beer and some finger food at one of the riverside eateries. End your night with a stroll to admire the city lights and get some dessert. Perfect evening in Singapore!

Had the morning in Singapore before a cruise.
Clarke Quay is named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Governor of the Straits Settlements. In the early years, many merchants traded along the bank of Singapore River. Thus, Clarke Quay naturally became a wharf for loading and unloading goods. At that time, besides rows of warehouses on both sides of the river, there were also many shophouses and factories.
With the development of Singapore, it has gradually transformed from a wharf to an integrated entertainment area for nighttime dining and tourism. Just to the west of the River is Circular Street with additional bars and restaurants.
In the morning, the area is quiet and mostly occupied by joggers, bikers and other locals exercising. A nice stroll along the riverfront foot path connects to Waterfront Promenade and Merlion Park and provides excellent views of the city, gardens by the bay and signature lion fountain.
