I was here in early April before the lockdown started as part of a long trek through the MacRitchie Nature Reserve. We came in the late afternoon and there weren't too many other people around, so that was a good thing. Nice views out over the jungle.

A good three-hour rainforest experience. Parking easy on a Sunday morning at Venus Drive. Total round trip was 7km over boardwalk and dirt paths. Some elevation but generally flat. Generally well maintained. Toilet areas at the car park and also at a ranger station around midway. No obvious water points to take a good supply.
The only issue was that the suspension bridge on the treetop walk has a listed capacity of 30, and there were up to 100 on there, due to people blocking the exit whilst watching a flying fox. This is an obvious safety issue that needs addressing.

Beautiful hike in the countryside in the middle of the megacity Singapore. From Macritchie Carpark, approx. 1 hour Walking time to Treetop Walk. The suspension bridge over the treetops is about 250 m long. However, it only goes in one direction, so you have to walk another 1.5 km to get back to the ranger station. There are toilets here and you can fill up the water bottles. From there it is about 30 minutes walk to Venuspark Carpark. If you don’t want to do such a long tour (it’s very sweaty), you should choose this as your starting point and end point or Windsor Nature Park drop off. Along the way you will encounter some monkeys, but they are not aggressive.

The Tree Top Walk is perhaps the most beautiful view of green space in Singapore. The bridge is high enough for many trees around. The look of the ground below is dark or green most of the times.
It's a one way walk and takes around 15 minutes. You will definitely want to spend more time here.
Tip: carry mosquito spray and wear shoes with good grip.
There are around 200 steps going up and down to come out. So be physically fit.

This was a great view and a relaxing way to spend a morning after a late night. We enjoyed the views and getting outside for some movement. We did not realize that it was a 4 mile walk round trip. Had we known it was that long we would have worn better shoes. Besides the slightly longer than expected walk, it was wonderful!

First off, I live near this place so it's like a convenient hiking trail for me. I regularly do the trail from Venus Drive to Macritchie. Please watch where you're stepping whenever you're in the nature reserves, as the animals are all around, even snakes, monitor lizards, skinks, that may be moving across the trails. Don't pluck the plant and harass the animals. The monkeys are cute but they are aggro AF if you have food. So beware.
Second, it is a beautiful place but humid, and certain sections of the trail may be muddy, rocky, and slippery so please be properly attired. I've seen ladies wear 4-in heels painfully navigating the trail. Also, the Tree Top Walk is a bridge constructed with metal mesh so heels are definitely going to hurt (if the steep climb up at each ends of the bridge don't deter you).
Third, note the signage. Please be considerate and not switch on your speakers to blast music or meditational chants in the forest. Don't litter your wet wipes, tissues, plastic bottles, and candy wrappers all over. Additionally, it's not a picnic place so don't bring strong smelling foods, eg, potato chips, bento lunches or chicken briyani. It attracts wild (yes) animals, and I've seen people throw their food away in fear of being attacked.
Fourth, keep your volume low. And no smoking! Additionally, insect repellent is really harmful for the environment. Please don't over-indulge in it.
Fifth, if you're in groups of 30 pax or more, you need a permit.
Please help keep the experience enjoyable for others. Thank you.

I have hiked this trail many times since a few years ago and is my favorite for following reasons:
1. It is very convenient from my home, just a 20 mins bus ride to Upper Thomson Road, where Venus Drive is my starting point.
2. This trail is relatively less crowded compared to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
3. I love the natural landscape, rain forest canopy which shields one from direct sunshine in this hot and humid Singapore.
From Venus Drive, one can also cover the newly opened Windsor Nature Park trail. The trail is flat, rather short in distance and is mainly walking on boardwalks. It also connects to the Tree Top Walk trail. There are many signboards and direction posts at all junctions, hence it is easy to navigate around.
The first part of trail is relatively flat. Midway is the ranger station with toilet facilities and water cooler. Next is a rather steep 150m uphill paved road before one reaches the entrance of the suspension bridge. Bridge is one way and only 250m, with a good aerial view of the surrounding rain forest and Upper Peirce Reservoir. Upon exiting the bridge, there are many board steps to climb first uphill and then downhill.
Doing a loop – i.e. back to ranger station and Venus Drive takes about 2 hours, covering 7km. Tree top walk also connects to MacRitchie Reservoir Park or to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. My favorite hiking trail is to end at MacRitchie Reservoir Park, covering about 10km.
Tips:
1. Start early as weather is cooler in the morning.
2. Wear comfortable shoes and sun hat.
3. Beware of monkeys, especially at ranger station & entrance of suspension bridge. Hide your food in bag to avoid being snatched by them.
4. Note it is closed on Monday.

I love walking and this was a brilliant way to escape the hustle of the city. I'm not the biggest fan of heights but managed to get across the bridge although I probably didn't appreciate the views as much as i could have done, however the rest of the walk around the Nature Park was stunning.
It was only a 10 min taxi ride from my hotel and then I took the bus back to the Botanical Gardens and jumped on the MRT to get back.

I went for a walk in what they call Tree Top Walk.
That was the best experience for me. Not because of the beauty only but because of the feelings it brings. Imagine you walking above the top of the trees...
The bridge is totally safe and you can see under your feet the trees, relax with the birds singing and being surprise with the contrast view between the amazing nature and the city in the background!
For me to come back to Orchard Road and have all MRT stations I just got the bus 166.
One more thing: You will see written in the plaques Forest Walk. So, just follow the plaques and you will get there from Henderson Waves in about 10 minutes. Then you can choose to walk by ground or by the bridges. No need to be afraid of heights because it is totally safe. And each 100 metres you can scape if you want and by the steps go to the ground!
Highly recommend !

The trail is long (around 4.5 km to treetop). We didn't bring any food or water since we originally didn't plan to go treetop.
We finally managed to drink some water at the ranger station, which requires walking 3 km into the trail. There is also toilet there. Unfortunately, there is no food stall or vending machine.
After circling the treetop we had to walk roughly 3km again to exit. I think nearest exit is thorough carpark and we should have entered through it initially as well.
Nevertheless, it was a peaceful trail. Really enjoyed it and after returning home we realized how tiring it actually was!

Hi! Is the treetop walk open now (Aug 2020)? Worried that the operating hours might be affected by the pandemic.
Written 27 August 2020
You can move around only in the first short section. I can't remember how long to reach the tree top, definitely more than 2km of walking. This is a moderately long walk. Not for prams.

Along Orchard Road there are two bus services (162/162M, and 167) that go toward Tree Top Walk.
You can take these buses from the stops outside Dhoby Ghaut Station Exit B, Winsland House, Somerset Station, Opposite Ngee Ann City (Takashimaya), Opposite Orchard Station/ Ion, or Royal Plaza on Scotts.
If you take 162/162M, you should alight just before Windsor Park Road. Walk along the pavement and past the Petrol Station until you reach a traffic light. At the junction, turn left and walk down the slope. You'll reach shortly.
If you take 167, alight at the next stop (Opposite Flame Tree Park Condo) after Windsor Park Road. Walk backward until you reach the traffic junction. Turn right down the pavement and walk toward the entrance to the trail.

Hi, are the walks buggy friendly?
Written 22 November 2019
No, the trail is not buggy friendly. There are various types of terrain, and even long flights of stairs. Hence if you're going to the tree-top walk, it would not be advisable.
If you leave your buggy somewhere along the trail to pick up later, it might have already become a playground for the monkeys.

Can I take my 60+ parents for the tree top walk trail? I am visiting singapore in november.
Written 24 July 2019
Hi arameydesai
Would do it with my parents 70+ but not with my parents in-law 70+ !
Easy 3-4 hour loop. Walk is typical Singapore safe and sound but especially after the bridge (one-way loop) there is a lot of stair to climb and then when you reach the top the same amount to descend.
At the ranger hut before the bridge they have toilets and water refill station.
Of rainy/wet would avoid.

Has anyone tried both this and the southern ridges trail? which one is better?
Written 17 June 2019
No, the HSBC Treetop Trail is not part of the southern ridges trail.

We don't have a car and were thinking of getting a taxi in - I am wondering what the likelihood is of getting a return taxi - do you think we can call one and they will come to the finishing point? This is important as we fly out late the day we are thinking of going.
There seems to be a couple of exits - would one be better than the other.
Written 7 May 2019
Hi. I am not sure if a taxi would come to the finishing point of the treetop walk. But I myself took a Grab from one of the exits (Along the main road) and it arrived in 15/20 minutes. However, bear in mind that after the Treetop walk itself ends, there is still an hour or so of walking to the nearest exit where you can call a taxi.
Written 7 May 2019
Where is the best place to start the walk ? And can you do a loop or do you have to do walk back to the start ?
thanks
Written 28 April 2019
Hi, if you want to get there fastest, the Venus Drive entrance is the best and easiest route to access it. Anything else you wana know, feel free to ask.
Written 4 May 2019
Thank you for the excellent information on the Treetop Walk. Do you know if you can enter the golf course by taxi and pick up the trail to the Treetop Walk that would be shorter? Thank you.
Written 26 April 2019
Non-members are not allowed to enter by the SICC if you are starting by Venus Drive.
If you're going by Lornie Road, you won't be allowed to enter by that entrance either.
