About
A short trip from the city center lies the serenity of MacRitchie Reservoir, part of Singapore’s water catchment system that captures rain water to help supply the island’s growing population. Trails surround the park, which has an upgraded visitor’s center featuring a café, restrooms and information station. The best views are from the TreeTop Walk, a 250-meter suspension bridge across the rainforest canopy, which can be accessed along the seven-kilometer Venus Loop. Wear hiking shoes and bring water.

My second time hiking at Macritchie, the yellow route. It has certain difficulties due to the uneven terrains , so a good pair of hiking shoes will help. Great for working out and being close to nature. The best time for the 3-4 hour hike is 7am, right after sunrise.

This is a great space to take a walk in nature, plenty of wildlife, we saw monkeys, monitor lizzards, skinks, a snake, tortoises, multiple birds etc. Be aware of the monkeys as they do snatch bags from visitors - do not take anything that is, or might look like a plastic bag. They seem more agressive on the tree top walk for some reason!

Perhaps the 12-kilometre walk around the MacRitchie Reservoir is not one of the stand-out visitor attractions of Singapore, but I loved it. It's so close to central Singapore and so easily accessible, but within minutes I was away from the crowded city. The boardwalk sections of the trail were particularly beautiful but so were the forest trails. Even on a hot day, things were shady. The trails are popular with local fitness enthusiasts and families, all of whom were observing COVID safety rules most carefully.

Love the trail. Good for jogging but be careful of many tree roots, large pebbles that may trip you while jogging. One whole loop is about 12km. Best time to jog s between 7.30am and 9am. It is cooling and sometimes windy along the water reservoir. If you don't like crowd, go during weekdays.

One of the best hiking trails in Singapore. Anyone who ever visits Singapore must explore this Gem. However the bridge is closed till June for renovation but its an awesome getaway from the City life and the glass buildings. The Forest is well kept and track well made..

IMacRitchie presents you with multiple trails to walk through. Once can do short as well as longer trail walks. Hence, one can keep going back and doing different routes. Best to go early in the mornings when it is less crowded. Carry water and some snacks.

Some of these trails are covered by the trees thus you can choose to walk even during 12noon. This month we did the boardwalk trails which skirts around the rim of the reservoir.

Best in early morning or evening. Do not attempt the trails at night as it can get pretty dark n the wild boars n snakes are out..
With the latest Leonie trail of the Coast to Coast completed..a nice circuit from the carpark is available with the choice of doubling back via the Boardwalks or via the new Leonie Connector. Can be very muddy after rain ...
