Neighbourhood: Marina Bay
More of a mini city than a neighbourhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.

We went for dinner and we’re so surprised it was ex excellent. The club itself has so much history, it’s a grand building and the staff are great. The food was so fantastic and the prices were more than fair.

The culinary highlight at this venerable social club, we feel, are the tremendous satays and roti prata. The kway teow is not the best nor the rojak, but the satay are, hands down, the best in town. Enjoyed the friendly service in the Oval Room too.

My reciprocal access here is always a treat when in Singapore. My local friends look forward to being able to get in when I'm in town. The checking in as reciprocal at the desk is a little clunky but nicely done. I'm grateful this is a club that allows reciprocals to bring guests. The Verandah is just delightful. Jugs of certain cocktails are good value and mixed well. We opted for the Indian menu. The curries and naan were well executed with depth of flavour. My friend's lamb shank curry was frankly enormous! Terrific value and a lovely drink in the bar to follow.

Invited to join a business lunch today at the Singapore Cricket Club. What a splendid place - elegant and sophisticated with excellent food. I chose the beef and Yorkshire pudding - the roast of the day which was absolutely wonderful. Two very large slices - I couldn’t quite manage to eat it all.
A nice club to relax. Very welcoming.

I was invited for dinner by a member, she is the sister ofj Someone I I used to work with and is now a friend, she picked me up from the hotel and brought me there, she gave me the choice to have dinner in the dining room or the Veranda it was 6 pm and a lovely evening and decided on the latter. There was local as well as International food and I decided on fish and chips whilst my hostess had the local food and she ate with chop sticks, an art I have never tried. It was most enjoyable and cannot thank my hostess enough to have given me the chance to see this lovely place and have such an excellent meal. She kindly brought me back to my hotel

There are many times where I had to remind myself Singapore was Asia. When you are walking in the area on the Cricket Club on the Padang between the theater and the old city hall, now National Art Gallery, it is hard to think you are not in a tropical British isle. It was interesting on Sunday and Saturday we saw people playing cricket on the Padang and it just seemed more foreign.

Went there post Fullerton Forum frenzy to decompress. Had a pre-dinner G&T (Bloom gin) - excellent! Then went on to dinner where I had their famous mulligatawny soup and the butter chicken tikka curry and garlic naan...all was simply the best. After supper we retired to enjoy the rest of the eve. I had Sheppy’s dry cider...yum! This is an excellent club - wish I could just go when I visit SG, but have to make sure that I’m with a member! Well done SCC, I bought your cookbook.
