If you are a fan of exquisite Malaysia durians, then this is a stall that you must patronize.
They specialize in Mao Shan Wang and Golden Phoenix breed. Depending on the demand and supply situation, price can vary from S$15 per kg to high S$20's per kg.
While there are plenty of durian sellers in Singapore, Ah Seng supplies consistently good quality ones. Perhaps it's due to his close connection with the durian plantation that is his source.

HOW AND WHEN:
We were lucky and managed to get some durians on the exact hour that it just arrived. The second time we came, we weren't lucky and did not get any MSW (Mao Shan Wang) durians and had to settle for another breed that we never heard of... though it was cheaper and still pretty good. Lesson learnt - best to reserve the durians in advance, and perhaps even call/Whatsapp to ask the boss when's the next batch of durians arriving so that you can visit the store at the right time.
TRUSTWORTHY PROCESS:
Each durian fruit was placed in baskets with its weight and price clearly listed on the sticker attached and you can pick which fruit you want. Very professional and honest, unlike many stores in Geylang (another street famous for selling durians to tourists who often get cheated into buying inferior durians at >300% of the right price). The storekeeper told us he would split open the durian for us, and if we felt the quality was sub-par (i.e. you could tell if a durian is unripe or have too few seeds of durian), he would let us pick another. Gloves, tissues and a small bin were provided for minimal mess.
Other products that could last longer and different ways to enjoy the durians:
- frozen MSW durians (with seeds)
- MSW durian flesh (100% real, no seeds)
- MSW durian puree
- MSW ice-cream
- MSW cheese tarts
Though on the second time we visited after lunch, they ran out of these products too. I guess it'll be better to reserve them in advance too if you wish to get them!

Being my first time buying from Ah Seng, I had no idea where to go at Ghim Moh market even though all my friends seem to buy their durians there. But I knew the best way to find it was to look for the queue and true enough there was a Long queue forming at one of the stalls.
Even though you have reserved your durians beforehand, you still need to queue up as the quality check process is very important for Ah Seng and they insist on showing you every single durian opened to Ensure quality.
Ah Seng starts by asking if you prefer the sweet or bitter variety. The first 5 durians he opened he chucked aside as he could tell they were not the bitter variety I chose.
Even after all the durians are selected and sent down the production line for packing, when the guy is packing the durians into the box and he discovers any ‘seeds’ that might not be up to standard, he’ll just throw them away and compensate you with acceptable ones. Such is the level of their quality assurance.
Truly impressive quality and Service. Am a big fan now!

I heard so much good reviews but was disappointed. Everyone says that the boss personally picks the best durians? I don't think so, maybe the 1st group of customers got the best pick, but not the rest. When my turn came, there were only a few durians left on the counter for selection so how can we say the boss personally picks the best durians for all his customers? Maybe some, but its the same at every durian stall?

Ah Seng’s durians are some of the best durians I have ever eaten. Ah Seng offers a wide range of durians from MSW to Black Pearl to Red Prawn. Ah Seng is also price transparent and he is reliable. Durians are opened and can be tasted before any purchases. Best to call ahead and place your order to avoid the any disappointment since they can run out of MSW durians. Expect to be queuing for 30 to 45 minutes and even longer on weekends and evenings even if a preorder is made. Long line is not an issue since people swap stories about durians and where to get them. Go to Ah Seng and your search for the best durian and for a honest durian seller is over!

They are very professional, and the durian was 3 x vacuum packed, and we had no issue taking it back home. There were no durian smell.

I'm giving this 4 stars because my usual visits are better. This time around the two MSW I got were harder and more bitter. That said, I would still patronize from them in the future.

Their famous Mao Shan Wang durians were all reserved in advance and when stock arrives in the late afternoon, you can see the crowd keeps streaming in. Strongly suggest to call them in advance to check on stock arrival time otherwise you might end up with leftover stock. Bought some old D24 stock and quite a few seeds were hard flesh; rather disappointing. Their MSW were powerful and has a lingering after taste. Simply too addictive!!

I come to Ghim Moh market every weekend, and was surprised that the stall is not open. I went to their Facebook and discovered that they take in phone orders and only open when the durians are delivered to their stall, which is late mornings. I usually go in the earlier part of the morning.
One evening, I was at Ghim Moh market and was surprised to see the place packed with customers, most of them in office attire sitting around tables and tucking into durians.
I went up and asked what’s available. Besides the usual Mao Shan Wang, they also had a special ‘Orh Kue’ cultivar’ limited-edition durian. I bought 4 of these for my family to enjoy. It costs $12/ kg and my order costs me $40, about $10 per durian.
The durian has soft flesh with a bitter taste and sweet fragrance. The seeds were big though.
After I finished the durians, I went online to Ah Seng’s Facebook and discovered that the season for this durian is over and there is no more stock coming in for this! Lucky me!
Good to go try Ah Seng’s durians, while you can.
