It was raining but I did not want to disappoint my kids. We went ahead with the tour. Though we can't really see anything due to low visibility but our tour guide Sam did a fabulous job in explaining in detail of what we were about to see. Sam was very engaging especially towards my children. We were given key chains for answering the correct answers. It was raining but the weather was absolutely cooling and we enjoyed as a family. I will come back again and hope that Sam will tour us again. Thank you for the fun filled experience!

This service was great for seeing what Singapore had to offer early on when visiting. There were several routes covering most major 'attractions' and other points of interest with enough information given on the recorded commentary, available in quite a few languages, to help make a decision whether to return later or not. 24 or 48 hour passes were available. Some of the buses were in better condition than others but all provided good viewing, especially from the open top decks. Frequency of services was good. The only slight criticism was that occasionally the commentary wouldn't be exactly synchronized with what driving past. Drivers were quite helpfu and route/attraction maps and earphones were provided.

I have been on the Duck Tours in Boston and London and this is my second favorite ride. It's a unique experience to ride in a piece of WW II history and that alone is worth the price of admission. The ride takes about one hour. It starts at Suntec City across the park into the river and the water leg takes you to the Merlion Statue in the marina. The disappointing thing is that it doesn't go up river to Clarke Quay. The commentator keeps you informed about the architecture of the buildings you see along the way. It returns to its point of entry and then takes a short drive along the Padang and past City Hall before heading back to Suntec City.

Duck & Hippo is one really good way of seeing Singapore when you are there for just about 4 or 5 days in all.

We got ourselves the 2 day Singapore Pass that comes for SG$69 per ticket. We got our ticket at the Duck N Hippo counter at Suntec Galleria. The pass is valid for 48 hours so if you purchase your tour pass at 5pm today, its valid till 5pm two days later.

The primary tours offered are:

1. City Sightseeing - City route that operates east to west, connecting the hotels, major shopping malls along Orchard

2. City Sightseeing - Heritage route that operates north to south and connects major heritage precincts such as Little India, Arab Street and Chinatown

3. The Original Tour - combines some parts of both the above tours and departs from the Singapore Flyer

4. The Duck Tour - on the Kallang River

The Hippo buses are double deckers with an air-conditioned lower deck for those who don't want to be exposed to the humidity of Singapore, while the upper deck is partially covered with an awning, the rest of it being open. The buses run on time, are clean, well maintained and manned by professional crew.

Tip 1: These buses offer commentary over a PA system (no earphones), but at times the commentary is not in sync with the landmark being described. Its best therefore to keep tracking your progress on the tour by referring to the tour map that comes with the ticket.

Tip 2: The other downside of not having earphones, is that if you are travelling on the top deck, the commentary becomes unclear / inaudible in areas where ambient noise is high. (If you can take the sun, I still would recommend the top deck though!)

Tours 1, 2 and 3 crisscross Singapore and yes, there is some duplication because of this. However that is only a minor irritant, and perhaps gives you a second chance to take some photographs that you may have missed out on the first pass!

The Duck Tour is on an amphibious vehicle that travels a short distance from Suntec to the Kallang River which is the splashdown point where it converts to a boat. In just about an hour, you are treated to wondrous views of the most prominent landmarks of Singapore including the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay, Marina Barrage, Gardens by the Bay, The 'Durian', Floating Stadium, the Helix bridge, Supreme Court, Merlion, Singapore CBD, Marina Bay Sands and so forth - needless to add this tour is a camera buff's delight.

The value add-ons that increase the worth of the 2 day Singapore Pass ticket are complimentary entry / tickets for:

- Singapore Flyer - as is now all too well known, this is a new major attraction

- HiPPO River Cruise - real good fun drifting down the Singapore River taking in various major landmarks of the Lion City

- Bumble Bee Water Taxi - great for doing the Clarke Quay area in particular

- Chinatown Heritage Centre / Asian Civilization Museum / Singapore Art Museum

- Botanic/Orchid Gardens

- Little India Walking Tour / Chinatown Walking Tour

Tip 3: While the ticket does cover all the above, fact is that 48 hours just does not allow you to do full justice to the bouquet of attractions offered - we missed out on the Asian Civilization Museum and Singapore Art Museum, as also both the walking tours since their start times clashed with other things we were doing. Therefore its best to prioritize in advance your list of "must-sees / must-dos" before starting off on the tours.

All said and done, I think Duck n Hippo is a great way of doing Singapore - over land and water!

The experience here was terrible. There was a rude man working there and he was insulting people and being extremely rude. No customer service at all. He was treating me along with customers like Rubbish. After having paid over a $100 this was disgraceful.

Everyone including me was being nice to him and trying to ask him where to stand to wait for the tour and where the tour goes. He gave rude answers and has an attitude problem. He should not be working in a tourist place with his behaviour. He thinks to much of himself and walks around proudly instead of helping the guests. He seems to be a show piece at the Ducktours and does not help people. So I cant understand why he is working there.

Watch out for him and don't be insulted by him. I have uploaded his picture to make all fellow travellers aware. If he insults you or talks rudely to you, do not stand his behaviour and try to tell his manager who works at the office.

I would give it a "0" if that were possible. Four of us paid for this experience and the only seats left in the vehicle were the very back row. When the engine started, it was like standing right in front of a jet airplane on takeoff. There were no speakers and no headsets (although there was an "outlet" for headsets). The "guide" had a microphone but we could not hear one single word she said. Plus by the time the one hour trip was over, we were practically deaf from the noise. We complained to the guide and her response was, "You shouldn't sit in the back". Well, they pack the vehicles full and we had no other choice! Bad experience on what should have been a really fun outing.

We purchased tickets earlier and arrived the counter one day in advance for reservation. The counter lady gave us a reservation code and asked us to return 25 mins before boarding. we arrived on time to line up, but by the time to board a staff came and told us that we need a "boarding pass" from the counter, and our "reserved seats" were already taken and we need to reserve the tour next hour.
We were so confused. The reservation code didn't mean a reservation? What's the point of making appointment in advance if people can take the seats on the day of the tour ?
The service is horrible and the staff is totally not helpful in a rude manner.

Also called CitySightseeing Singapore: Get on at multiple locations through out the city. They run three different routes - original, yellow city and heritage wiht interexchang epoints to cross over. For $23 pp adults (cash singapore money) we started on the city route and then crossed over to the Heritage route. The Heritage route had a guide talking about the three major etnic areas of the city (other routes have recordnings). She was quite good. We made one loop and then got off to explore the various areas, hopped back on to go to the next. At the end of the day we switched routes to see the part of the city we had not seen yet. The buses run about 30 minutes apart (as stated in the brochure) and we found them to be very dependable and they use regualr bus stops so they are easy to find. We thought this was a very good value to see an good overview of the city and allow us to explore the areas we were interested in. The downstairs of the buses are air conditioned which you may need a few mintues of here and there. The upper deck has both covered and incovered areas. Ask any hotel where to find a stop. They also have connects to the duck tours, hippo water tours and heritage walking tours at certain itmes.

Made reservations previous day. When we arrived there were only seats that were not together. No problem, we will wait for next available bus. We were instructed to arrive back in 30 minutes. My 1 year old was hot so we waited inside mall. When we arrived back in 20 minutes, despite being 10 minutes early, the next bus was already boarded and again had no seats available. Now my son is hungry so we need to cancel as we can't wait yet again. The owner/manager refused to provide refund. Absolutely horrible experience. As others have complained, adults grab all window/outside facing seats and families looking to sit together sinply wont be able to sit together. Service is horribly inconsiderate of families and families with small children.
