There was something really charming about roaming this shopping center. The buildings were a bit run down and most of the shops were closed down but it had a cool vibe.

Our hotel Furama City Centre had direct access to this mall.

We visited to use the atm and to use the money changers.

My wife had her nails done and we also enjoyed a foot massage.

At the lower level of the complex is a food court.

Just be warned that many of the massage stores are not genuine but a front for prostitution. I found the girls were aggressively triying to tout their services.

Unfortunately COVID19 strikes in 2020. Travel, tourism is non existent. Hence this formally bustling part of Singapore slowly grind to a halt. Many businesses suffered and shuttered. A shadow of its formal glory. Used to be a haven for jewelry, watches, money transmitting, shoes, travel ticketing and massages. There is even a 50 year old Rolex boutique. Today, more than half of the shops are empty. Hopefully the Pandemic would be over, we resume our lives and travel, tourism resume and People's Park can go back to its formal glory.

Anywhere you go here it’s cheap great food and plenty of it. It has been some time since I have been here but it’s still the same. All the food stalls are friendly and if you have kids that aren’t into great fresh Asian foods there is McDonald’s there as well.

We found numerous shops, money changers with good rates and massage places to explore in the People's park complex. The food court down the bottom offers value for money and we ate there a couple of times trying different foods each time. A great place to explore right near Chinatown.

Entering into this shopping precinct is like a step in time. It is like visiting the Mall that time forgot.

There was certainly none of the glitz and glamour of other Malls here. There were no big named branded stores here.

It was not really for tourist, however, it was worth a look around.

There was a department store selling everything from furniture, household goods, herbal medicines, clothing and lots more. It was called Overseas Emporium, it sounded so old fashioned, made me smile.

There were a considerable number of travel agents. There were stalls/shops, selling stationary, cleaning products, ceremonial decorations and much more.

There were also a number of money changing booths, rates did vary a little from place to place. Better rates were available outside of here.

The People Park Food Court, was underneath the Complex. Amazing place, reviewed separately, well worth a

Having eaten in a tourist trap restaurant paying over the odds, the People's Park offers the hawkers market low cost food choices.
Look around before choosing, prices and options do vary, but still exceptional prices compared to back home.
Plenty of other non-food shops in the Complex

This was the first place we visited in Singapore because we were looking for some cheap stuff when we arrived and were told this was the place to go. The Building itself is old and a bit rundown even the surrounding areas are not the cleanest by Singapore standards. Most of the shops here sell cheap souvenirs and small articles they do have some the most competitive Money Changers here so you get good rates. You can also find tons of travel agents, small electronic shops if you need something fixed but do so at your own discretion. The place is easy to find get off at Chinatown MRT and take exit C.

Great food courts which have almost every type of local cuisines. OG department store is my favourite as it is at a lower end and still carries a great range of goods at a heavily discounted price. PPC has one of the best money changer (higher rates) in Singapore right at the front of the building next to the main road. You always see a long queue but worth waiting. Lastly it has both MRT and bus right at your fingertips.
