We had an amazing tour of the Hawker Centres with Gerry. An absolute blast. Gerry showed us some great neighborhoods, and we loved walking around Chinatown. He was very easy to spend time with, and we tried a ton of different food options. Would recommend to anyone going to Singapore.

This tour was really good. Gerry was very informative / helpful and passed on the info about Singapore very well throughout the tour. The highlight was sampling the food at the hawker market and speaking to some locals.

My wife booked this tour with Jerry because she wanted to enjoy the local food but was concerned that she would be overwhelmed with the street hawkers. What we hoped for was a safe and secure introduction to some of the foods that might take us a little bit beyond her normal boundaries. What we got was so much more. Yes there was a local food and lots of it but with that Jerry also gave us several hours worth of introduction into life in Singapore. He shared with us his memories growing up, the stories of the people who made our food, and the generations that came before them. What aspect I especially liked is it was it just about food. Jerry also took us to several of the sections around town and told us about the people who live in play there. We started out in Chinatown had the option of going to Little India and ended up in Arab Town after going through one of the most luxurious gin bars I’ve ever seen. It was a Friday night and so the streets in Arab town were packed solid. Every four or five restaurants there was a musician playing live music in the streets. People were sitting with friends enjoying their high school beer or other drinks chowing down on some great local food. My wife wants me to include that it’s also the little details that made a big difference to her. Specifically he made sure that along our route we always had a chance to stop where there was a nice and clean bathroom. It is easy to go to a place like Singapore and limit yourself to the nice hotels and top tier restaurants. But if you do that you’re going to miss out on the local flavor and true life experiences.

I had a great time experiencing the Hawker Centers with Gerry. He shared local stories and delicious street cuisine, along with some cold refreshing beers. We laughed and solved the world problems one table at a time. In the end it felt good to support the hawker centers who really work hard to support their families and lives. .

As with other reviewers, I've nothing but praise for this tour. From picking us up at our hotel to dropping us back there later in the evening we had a fabulous evening of food, drink and discovery. This is the perfect tour for anyone who wants to find out about the real Singapore - the one that most tourists will miss. Gerry and his wife Jo and guided us expertly around the city, ordering food and drinks, answering our many questions and even shepherding us onto the MRT - which gave us the confidence to do it again the next day. As for the food - well all I can say is, be hungry. Gerry knows the best places and the best dishes where the locals eat. Gerry is full of interesting facts which give a colourful insight into daily life in the city. Ask him what you want to know and he will tell you. Cannot recommend this tour enough.
