Another massive mall in Orchard Road. Looks impressive from the outside but once you enter the building you can't help but notice there is so much unutilised space. Can understand it was done on purpose to provide space and comfort to customers but personally I think it's a bit too much. On top of that most tenants are less known boutiques. The only attraction is the Don Don Donki store.

Conveniently located above the MRT. Above average hotel with smaller rooms with a good range of breakfast. To get to the hotel, get off at Somerset station, exit C. There are 2 lifts on the left hand side as you exit the MRT approx 20m (Jen hotel. Lifts are shared with the shopping complex. Easy to get to the hotel as it is all underground. Shopping is at its doorstep.

Too much negative space

Another massive mall in Orchard Road. Looks impressive from the outside but once you enter the building you can't help but notice there is so much unutilised space. Can understand it was done on purpose to provide space and comfort to customers but personally I think it's a bit too much.

On top of that most tenants are less known boutiques. The only attraction is the Don Don Donki store.

Gem Hotel, Orchard Gateway

This hotel is centrally located in Singapore’s orchard rd, above the orchard gateway shopping centre and train line. Although it is in the centre of town and easy access to the train lines it is quiet, and the beds are comfortable. It has a rooftop pool and bar and affords great views of the marina, and marina bay sands hotel, especially at night when the laser show lights the sky. A great place to stay in Singapore.

Central and convenient

Shopping, dining, meeting place. It’s convenient for us as we stay in the hotel with direct lifts access. The MRT is also right where it is.

Delicious bubble tea and cheaper than others

At basement of Orchard gateway. Serving brown sugar bubble tea cheap and good. They make own brown sugar.

Breakfast is the best!

Stayed here a couple of days ago. Right by the underground stop which was really easy to use. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are well kept. Good location for shops and has a centre near by. About a 45 minute walk from the marina. Breakfast was the best we have had. It's a Buffett and caters for everyone. Would recommend staying.

Don Don Donki

Recommended by a relative during recent visit to Singapore. An all Japanese supermarket located at Orchard Gateway, B2 level near Somerset MRT.

Everything in the big shop is from Japan. Fruits, drinks, cheese, noodle packs etc etc. They also sell sushi set, salmon sashimi and are all very fresh. Cooked salmon or fishes in singles or Bento sets are well displayed.

The ambience of shopping in Donki is encouraging especially their Donki theme song played over and over again.

Actually, I went there 3 times in 5 days of Singapore stay. Strongly recommended for those craze for Japanese stuffs.

Don Don Donki

I came here just to shop Don Don Donki for the discounted goods! Picked up some interestingly flavored chips, caramel corn and discounted Popin Cookin! There are two levels with one being more food oriented. I do like how they just give you your stuff and a plastic bag and how there are bagging counters for you to take your sweet time bagging your items (totally different from the states).

Also checked out a claw machine arcade but the prizes all looked untouched so I didn't try any of the machines.

Straight on from Orchard Central, Orchard Gateway continues the impressive arty theming, but at least gets down to some functional shops.

Malls along Orchard Road (and around Singapore) offer different tourist privileges (visit their Information/Concierge booths).

I enjoyed Orchard Gateway's privilege as it is straightforward: S$20 off for a minimum S$100 purchase at participating establishments. My friend and I used our privilege - in addition to ongoing store promos - at a watch store and a health and beauty store. Enjoyed the savings!
