About
River Hongbao is one event during every Chinese Lunar New Year that Singaporeans and tourists really look forward to. The River Hongbao is usually held at The Float at Marina Bay, overlooking the splendid Marina waterfront area, as well as a panoramic view of Singapore’s skyline. The large premises are decorated with auspicious Chinese characters during this period, such as the twelve zodiac animals. In the evening, the whole venue lights up in a beautiful myriad of colours, and visitors will be able to catch performances by performing troupes or singing groups. And the best part, admission is free for all.

It is an annual event looking forward to, however, the lighting are too spread out without any theme. The only enjoyable is the big CAI SHEN and the crowd is well managed. Overall enjoy the walk and light. The flowers are not the good choice as used Chrysanthemum thats for praying… should use rose or tulip..

I had alot of fun taking pictures with my family as its a yearly event for us. Despite the long q, we were mesmerised by the beautiful lanterns. My favourite lantern is the wishing heart and the interactive piano! It was a pity they didnt had fireworks this year but the laser show was as magical as the fireworks. Looking forward to the future riverhongbao!!

The number on TripAdvisor was wrong. Please update accordingly. Wanted to inquire more but ended up calling a random member of public.

The ticketing function really helped with crowd control and I was able to admire the lanterns without feeling the rush of crowds. All the lanterns were beautiful to take photos with and they look even more magical and majestic at night when lit up! Great place to visit with your loved ones!

Despite the pandemic, I would like to praise the organising committee for putting together a safe and well execute CNY event at a beautiful location, Gardens by the Bay. This is my first visit to the River Hongbao, my fiancé and I was looking forward to it and was very impressed with the larger-than-life lantern displays (especially the God of Fortune). Highly recommend this event.

I used to think this event is pretty touristy, but with the pandemic, my family and I decided to head down this year and we were really pleasantly surprised! The whole place felt very festive and CNY-ish, and the lanterns were bigger and more impressive than I expected. There are lots of safe distancing measures in place this year like crowd control, limited tickets with designated time slots, and no live performances, but I still enjoyed my time there anyway. Hope the event can be held at Gardens by the Bay again next year because there's so much space and the weather is always nice and cool there at night. First and definitely not my last time here!

We were there during the Chinese New Year. There was so much mood! It was colorful, light, fun. And the fireworks were impressive. It was so exciting!

I attended the bicentennial edition last year for the very first time with some friends purely by chance and was incredibly impressed by the dazzling display of lanterns and that huuuge Caishen Ye(Fortune God) I felt extremely 'huat!' when I saw him.

Please note:
It can get quite crowded and because there were several large lantern displays it can get a bit hot, so please bring your own hydration options. As for entertainment for the kids -there were a decent array of amusement park rides and carnival games to keep them busy. Don't have to worry too much about the budget as I believe for this year, there won't be any entrance fee upfront, its free admission for all!

Lastly, aside from the daily evening stage performances (specially invited local celebrities and traditional dancers from overseas etc) there were also fireworks every night without fail (I realized this after coming 2 days in a row back to back) This makes it easier to fit into your travelling schedule, don't have to worry about missing out on the action.
