Christ Church Cathedral on Ross Road in Stanley was concentrated in 1892. It is the parish church of the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the British Antarctic Territories. The church was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield and built in 1890–1892 from the local stone and brick on the site of Holy Trinity Church, which was destroyed by the peat slip... More

Visiting the Church is a must in any travel, even if you are not religious or you don't have a religious belief, but this Church is particularlly very cozy and nice. Not to many ornaments, not heavily adorned, just classical and nice.

This church has lovely stained glass windows reflecting Falklands history. I especially loved one of a beloved visiting nurse, standing with her bicycle. Kneeling cushions embroidered by local women and reflecting local culture/history are absolutely lovely. I am so glad I took time to stop in.

A rather impressive structure in the Stanley centre,( a place hardly known for its architecture.) It would be a shame to by pass this cathedral and/or only view from the outside. It is located close to the super market and tourist shops so hardly out of the way. Impressive taking into account the islands population is only around 3000.

Consecrated in 1892, this is the world's southernmost Anglican cathedral and features exceptional stained glass windows from the 19th and 20th Centuries. The lawn in front of this massive brick and stone structure is dominated by a soaring arch made from the jawbones of two blue whales in order to commemorate the centennial of British rule in the Falkland Islands.... This mainly Victorian Cathedral stands in the middle of Stanley overlooking the bay. Plenty of history attached to it and reading the various memorial plaques brings its history to life.

If you can walk, you can manage to see. This is the main church in Stanley. These are Great Britain people and the majority are Protestant. Very close community of people. Falkland islands is a wonderful place due to the people and the penguins.

The church is an easy walk from the pier. There was a very interesting and knowledgeable volunteer working the day of our visit and was able to give us first hand information of the church and of Port Stanley. Loved the stained glass and simplicity of the church. The plaques are well worth the time spent reading them. The gardens... More

This Beautiful little church is an easy walk along the waterfront from the ship landing area. The old style and stained glass take you back in time. Noted: "is the southernmost Anglican cathedral in the world, consecrated in 1892." Lots of history here so take time to read the signs and pick up some info. British Antarctic Territories.

A reflection of Christianity on a remote location. It was a privilege to visit . 2017 is the 125th Anniversry Year of it's consecration - we can only say ' Go with God' for the future.
