More than “just a climb to a live Volcano” Been to Torres Del Paine (W Circuit) & San Pedro Atacama (desert in the north), and I found Pucon Volcano to be a contender for my favourite thing to have done in Chile. I didn’t know...More

This review is probably a bit unfair as we did not see the volcano at its best. On the second of two wet November days in Pucon we thought we ought to at least drive up the volcano. The drive took about 30 mins on...More

I am 70 years old and somewhat concerned about reaching the summit or crater of this majestic active volcano. I was so fortunate to use the company Antu Rios y Montañas with owner Joaquin and his two assistants Francisco and Nicolas. What a great time...More

Great hike. Unfortunately the weather do not cooperate for us. 180km winds prevented us getting to the top. Blowing icy snow without Bella clava or goggles didn't make any sense. There would have been no chance to observe the crater either

This is 8 out of 10 physically strenuous. And it’s about 70% a mental test of not giving up. You’re going to be climbing for about 6.5 hours and each section is progressively steeper. You’re going to be tired and that foothold is going to...More

I totally recommend the climb on top of the volcano. Sinking up to the knee in the 20m snow while looking up to see the gas coming out of the volcano is really a unique experience.

Yes on a day of good weather. The climb is do able and not hard. Of course people should bds relatively fit. The extent of climb can also be reduced from 5 hours to 4 hours if you pay extra for the chair lift.

We hiked with snow shoes in August. There was a chairlift that was working and you could hike a bit further up without a guide. The place that you are staying would probably be able to help you make arrangements. Our host... More

Only so far, before you get in snow then you really need a guide if you want to go to the top it is dangerous otherwise.
