Lake Llanquihue is not the largest lake in Chile (Lago General Carrera in the Aysen Region of Chile is almost twice as large as Lago Llanquihue), but this is probably one of the most beautiful locations in Chile. Best time to visit is during spring or fall, so one can avoid the tourist crowds and still enjoy decent weather. The... More

The lake is worth a visit for the sweeping views and volcano. Puerto Varas itself is a touristy town with lots of shops and cafes, but the lake is definitely the star of the show. We were fortunate to be here on crisp sunny day - spectacular!

We went from Puerto Varas to Frutillar by bus which was quick and cheap. Once in Frutillar we had a lovely walk around the town side of the lake. It was very peaceful there almost out of season, with the volcano Osorno offering up most picturesque shots. Put this place on your list if you go to the Lake District... More

We are fortunate enough to live only a few hundred meters from Lago Llanquihue, what an honor! Aside from being Chile's second largest lake and having a backdrop of our five famous volcanoes, it is a place for recreation and shear beauty. At times during storms, our lake resembles an angry ocean and her wind waves and whitecaps. Boat rides... More

This lake is the largest in Chile, surrounded by quaint German-style towns, each unique in its own way. It is incredibly scenic to take a drive around the lake.

There can't be many lakes in the world that are more beautiful than this one. With a combination of volcanoes and endless water it's a great experience.

We really enjoyed three days around Lago Llanquihue. We rented a car in Puerto Montt and drove, stopping along the way, through Puerto Varas, Frutillar, and Puerto Octay. We stayed in Puerto Octay for the night, then headed to Volcan Osorno to hike Paso Desolacion, then drove down through Las Cascadas, through Ensenada (there is a great artist there who... More

Each town is prettier than the last. We arrived in Puerto Varas then drove up the coast to visit Llanquihue, Fruitillar, and Puerto Octay. Every turn on the way gave another stunning view with the mountains/ volcanoes from a different angle. What a beautiful section of this wonderful country.

This is my third time to visit Lago Llanguihue, I am still very excited about the beauty of it. Unfortunately, it was so cloudy when we were there, so we didn't see Volcano Osorno. If you want to go there, please make sure to go at the right season and right weather.

We took and hour-long boat ride here to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The scenery was beautiful and the boat company included a pisco sour as part of the fee-not so bad!
