Pablo Neruda was a great poet and diplomat and had a wonderfully quirky personality. His three homes in Chile all reflect his love of life, laughter, friends and the sea. La Chascona, in Santiago just two blocks from the funicular, is a fascinating glimpse into...More

Remember that they were passionate lovers. It's the wonderful mix of valuable, historic, mundane and cherished objects. It reminded me of the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia with its juxtaposed famous and ordinary works of art and Falling Water by Wright in its intimate, cave like...More

I visited La Chascona with two friends who were sort of indifferent about going. I really enjoyed it and both of my friends raved about how much they enjoyed it as well. The audio guide is essential and included funny stories about Neruda and Matilde....More

Interesting space. My husband is familiar with his work and appreciated the visit much more than I did. Regardless, worth the visit. I don't want to spoil the experience for you so I won't post all the photos.

Me and my wife visited La Chascona since she insisted so much in doing so. I found it interesting. It was nice to see some places where part of Neruda's and even Santiago's history took place. I recommend using the sound guide.

Santiago is at least 2 hours by car from Valpariso. It can be done if you are in a time crunch.. Ask your Santiago hotel if they can arrange a car for you.
