Personally I'd prefer walking up the hill but it is an funny experience. Doesn't feel like the safest thing in the world but an experience nonetheless. Great views on the way through

Long lines! Be prepared and leave enough time. It lets off on the hill into a nice tourist market with a good view and pleasant walk. Naval museum entrance is partway through this market.
You can have a fun ride up the hill, and from the summit... just enjoy a great view over the different tasks performed in Chile's busiest port.
This elevator takes you up the Artillary hill and Paseo 21 de mayo from where you have a fantastic view over the habour and the city. Go there in the evening as well.

Another of the nice Ascensors, on the Northern edge of town. Not much at the top apart from nice views of the port, the Maritime Museum and a few nice local restaurants and cafes
