Resembling a type of small bread (panecillo), this hill makes an excellent observation point over Quito and features La Virgen del Panecillo, a majestic sculpture that can be seen from any location in the city.

Grabbed a $3 taxi ride to visit this lovely winged Virgin overlooking the Old City. Had a very sunny day and there was a cool breeze to wander around to snap shots of the city. Paid the $1 admission fee to climb the steps to...More

Fantastic structure at the top of this immense town. Other than the structure and the unbelievable view from the top of the hill there is not an awful lot more to see, use the hop on bus to get here.

I was downtown and this is a symbol so why not going there. It is OK to see the big Virgin. I went upstairs and like it, but could be skipped if you are short of time

My wife and I found it disappointing that so many tourists assume that the walk up to El Panecillo is not safe. All of those commenting say so after taking a bus or taxi. My wife and I love the exercise and while we were...More

The hop on hop off bus tour stops here for 30 minutes which is plenty of time to enjoy the views of the huge city and surrounding mountains and volcanoes.

This beautiful luscious green hill punctuates the sky. Virtually seen from every angle in Centro Historico ... this Madonna is poised like an angel looking down on town. She's compelling viewing especially with the early morning blue sky.

Since this is visible throughout the city, it's interesting to see this strange angel up close. The taxi ride up to the top is very cheap. There are lots of souvenir and food vendors at the top. The food is interesting to try and very...More

Definitely worth a visit to the highest hill in Quito with its magnificent monument. Overlooking the whole city and right above the old part, the best time of day to go is right before sunset to see the city during the day, watch the sunset...More

I have been here at day and night and both visits were breathtaking. Love the stained glass images of the different virgins in Ecuador they have in one of the floors as you make your way up

Definitely not 24 hrs. To be honest the view from the base of the statue is worthwhile.
