Loved the time spent here. So relaxing, enjoyable and nice. I really enjoyed the area. Watched people for a few hours and ate good bread, helados (ice cream) and sánduches (sandwiches). The pigeons, the nature that surronds the city and the well preserved buildings around the plaza (including the magnificent Church) makes this plaza one of the best plazas in... More

I really enjoyed the area. Watched people for a few hours and ate some good bread. Loved the handicraft place under the church and bought so many wonderful gifts. Go and relax for a few hours, you' ll love it .

We sat on the steps of the church, unmolested by vendors, and enjoyed watching the people come and go, the pigeons and the beautiful facade of the church. Under the main floor of the building is a large shop of fine crafts and a cafe with outdoor seating. We went there more than once to snack and drink batidos. The... More

Vert pretty square and nice place to just hang out and enjoy the scenery. There are lots of police officers, so quite safe in this part of town.

This was just a wonderful place. We were with a small group and had someone take us in to show the jewel of Quito and all of the other wonderful pieces in the museum as well as just the plaza in general.

Staying in Casa Gangotena, we faced this square daily and had ample time to explore it - its major attraction is the church and monastery of the same name. In the square there is a small cafe with some tourist shops but otherwise it is mostly used by the locals - busy during the day but very quiet at night.

The Plaza San Francisco stands in front of the Convento de San Francisco, the oldest church/ monastery complex in Quito. The plaza is surrounded by colonial buildings and has a fountain near the center. In pre-conquest times the plaza was a market place and it served the same function after the conquest, as well as a place for bull fighting.... More

This is a large square in front of the Church of the same name. On a slope - is a good hike but you also get good views from the top. Few sellers and beggars around and not as much police presence as other parts of town.
