This family owned sombrero factory is a bit out of the Malian town, but we walked nonetheless. Watch the open hours as they do close for lunch . We took the tour, Which was good as far as what we saw, but the gal was very monotone and sounded bored. We were slalomed to photograph the different areas Jane get... More

We really enjoyed our visit here. A new panama hat had been on my list of must do's for Cuenca and after visiting many shops, for me this was the best of them. Good working museum atmosphere and wonderful displays. There was no hard sell in the shop even though it is the reason for the museum.

We visited as part of a group and spent a good two hours here learning about the construction and history of the panama hat. The factory and showroom is very modern and clean and the staff are knowledgeable. The shop is wonderful and the prices are very reasonable by comparison to other parts of Ecuador. The jewellery shop attached to... More

It's a very relaxing way to learn about the hats manufacturing process. It is free, it is a self- guided tour, you can observe how the hats were made and how they are made today. You can also learn about the history of the founder of the company Mr. Homero Ortega, and why it is called "Panama Hat". Personnel is... More

Went as part of the North Route tour bus. Great museum & functioning workshop. Complimentary traditional drink on arrival, very interesting to see displays and workers performing their tasks. Encouraged to try on hats & have photos taken. Exceptionally astute marketing! Enjoyable experience.

This is a great place to visit an learn about the history and culture of the straw hat known as "Panamá Hat", also, to buy hats of high quality at good prices, with great selections for men and women.

It was interesting to see how the hats are made, see them all stacked, coloured and shaped. Unfortunately there was a busload of teenage girls at the same time & they spoiled it a bit. But it was fascinating

Very friendly staff who are willing to help with any question. The terrace with the attached cafe is really cute and you have an amazing view over Cuenca and the surrounding mountains. The owners are also always around and also very friendly and helpful. On Saturdays at 11 am they offer on the terrace typical Cuenca dances with traditional clothing.
