I could have done without this visit. It was reasonably interesting but nothing compared to a visit to the rose plantations. If you have to choose then choose the roses. The orchids are not bad but if you've ever been to Singapore then don't bother. The staff are lovely but we needed our guide to interpret as our staff member... More

It is really nothing but a store & a nursery! The orchids in the store ARE beautiful, but who can buy an orchid while traveling? The tour is only 15 minutes long! What a tourist trap!

We really enjoyed our visit here. To begin with, their sales room was filled with an amazing number of different types of orchids and it smelled wonderful. Then on the tour we saw many, many more orchids and also learned about how they raise the orchids from seeds--learning about the various steps along the way. A very pretty setting as... More

I took this trip using public transportation, just told the bus driver where I wanted left off at, just short of an hour travel each way. The site is very cool, Ecuagenera has a series of greenhouses, 30 plus here, about 10 near Guayaquil, and additional ones around Japan. The orchid market is apparently booming as they produce and sell... More

If you love flowers, this is not to be missed. I took the tour by myself which took about 45 minutes. Hostess was lovely. Bilingual which was pleasant. I took 50+ photos which I think are spectacular. Easy to get to by local buses from Cuenca main bus terminal

This was a top notch experience at one of the largest and most important orquid nursery in South America. They have won numerous prizes in international orchid competitions, and for good reason. We were given a private tour, which lasted over 90 minutes, with detailed explanations and a great deal of learning. The peaceful feeling is only beaten by the... More

It's about a twenty minute drive outside of town to this orchid farm, but worth a trip if you want to learn more about the flowers. Turns out there are more varieties of orchid native to Ecuador than to any other country in the world, and the folks at Ecuagenera take you through the process of cultivating them, from tiny... I have been to Ecuagenera a couple of times. Each time I am blown away by the number of orchids that are there. The colours and number of varieties is mind boggling. The guided tour is Spanish, English also, providing someone is available. One hour is the absolute minimum time - there is so much to see. And then step... More

We have a few orchids at home that I enjoy in bloom. However, I am not what you would call an enthusiast. This tour may have changed my mind. The care that Ecuagenera has taken to conserve orchid species and create new ones is exemplary. This tour explains the process it follows and how it has created new species. Hats... More
