Guided tours are the best way to see this remote and friendly island where the cows and sheep seem to outnumber people. Two mountain peaks, known as Father Earth and Mother Earth, make for superb hiking.

We loved the time we spent on the island of Amantani with our hosts. The walk to the temple of the sun and the moon were very nice, and a bit tiring due to the altitude! The night was wonderful with all those stars. It...More

The standard tours will drop tourists off in time for lunch and pick up the next morning and that's very nice. If you have a little more time it's wonderful to spend a couple of nights. We stayed at the pretty home of Richar and...More

This was a homestay with a local host family who made us very welcome - despite us not having a language in common! The food was simple but delicious and there was plenty of it. Beds were comfortable and piled high with blankets against the...More

This is truely an oasis of peace. We stayed with local people, sleeping in their homes and eating with them. They also showed us their traditions and in the evening we climbed the hill to the so called Pacha mama temple, waiting there for the...More

Beautiful isolated island with no cars, no trains etc. - only donkeys. We stayed with local family for one night, could experience a sample of their simple life. The view on the lake is breath-taking, incredible shades of blue.

We stayed with a wonderful host family for one evening. The food was delicious, the small street stalls in the small plaza has the best alpaca skewers! There's no roads, no cars and no dogs so it's one of the most breathtakingly relaxing places we've...More

Came here after Taquile to stay overnight in a Hospedaje. Amantaní is closer to the mainland than Taquile and as a result has lost much of the traditional ways of life. The clothing is more western, there are a few motorbikes and so on. The...More

The most unusual night of our trip was a home stay on Amantani Island. Despite my very few words of Spanish and the family having little English, we managed a conversation over a home-cooked dinner before bedding down for the night. This trip involved steep...More

Visiting the Amantani island was definitely my best experience on the Titicaca lake! The island is beautiful, very calm and still very well preserved. Moreover, people there are incredibly friendly. I would definitely recommend you to stay at the house of "Flora Borda", which is...More

Are you looking for a route around Peru or just a good place to stay around puno? Puno itself isn’t very nice but is a great launch point to spend a night to catch a day trip to the floating island. For the bigger island... More
