If you have a lot of days in peru you have to see colca canyon. If you're lucky you'll get to see the condors flying around. It get hots so wear sunscreen. Support the local women and buy something from them.

Very beautiful hike. Will definitely recommend doing it - especially 2 day trek if you're just somehow sporty. Not a very tough hike, however, do bring hat, sunglasses, and proper clothes since the sun is strikingly hot.

I wouldn't bother doing just a half day, firstly it will take half a day to get to the Canyon from Arequipa. Unless you stay in cabanaconde (which is really a small small small local village). Book a day tour in Arequipa... More

Hi Clare. Yes you can do it without a Tour, you can go to the bus station or Terminal and take a bus to Caylloma and its really cheap. There you can walk or take other buses to the next towns.
