Beautiful buildings- they don't call this the White city for nothing. Lots of restaurants in this area, the middle has a fountain where you can sit and people watch. The main church is amazingly beautiful and free to go inside. The second floor offers a...More

Not the most amazing of plazas but better than Lima´s and most cities in South America. Clean and safe with guards around. The cathedral and lively atmosphere makeit a must in arequipa.

In one direction, you are looking at the cathedral, another classic colonial buildings with vaulted ceilings and beautiful arches, housing restaurants, museums, and other commercial enterprises. But most impressive, it upon gazing upward, you see the presence of Misti and two other volcanoes that surround...More

We only knew the nickname of Arequipa as the White City. Our boutique hotel was only about 10 minute walk from Plaza de Armas and once we entered the Plaza were taken back at just how white volcanic rock could be. Fantastic architecture. After taking...More

We visited here and stayed in a local hotel over looking the plaza. The fountain was unfortunately under repair during our visit so we did not see the full spectacular view

We did enjoy strolling around this square and mixing with the local people. The Plaza had quite a history and is well worth a visit. The restaurants on the far side of the Plaza are also good value.

We enjoyed the plaza and surrounding sites by foot. Bring walking shoes and sun screen. The area invites you to explore.

Big and with a lot of activity. Safe to walk. My hotel was on the plaza. The view of the cathedral is amazing. Doing some remodeling. Must visit.
