Stayed here for about an hour people watching. Typical square in my opinion where tourists are preyed upon. However, can't miss it as it's at the center.

Very picturesque and beautiful square in Central Arequipa. Lots of tour agencies, the Cathedral, and a Monastery on the Square. Lots of hat and souvenir sales- if you buy one thing, they tend to swarm you. Definitely worth a look. Dont forget to visit the friendliest traffic cop in the world, just off the square.

You can tell the people in this city truly love their city. It is by far one of the cleanest city's in South America by far. Love this place to start your day off or to end...

The most beautiful square I've visited in this country. Beautiful architecture, worth checking with the night lighting of the cathedral.

This plaza is the center of town! Nice arcades all the way around where you can shop, eat, and just enjoy the busy life of natives! Although natives are a bit insistant on selling their souvenirs, they are very polite and respectful; one has to understand that many of them make a living this way, so, tourists and travellers, consider... Bustling with locals, the plaza is beautiful and somehow tranquil. It is safe, with lots of tourist police, and while there are lots of tour companies that hastle you, it's easy to ignore them and enjoy the serenity.

There seemed to be something interesting happening here any time of day. A busking jazz band inge afternoon with a big well-behaved crowd looking on. At least two wedding parties this evening. Local families out walking. This a great place to sit and enjoy the view of the cathedral and Misti Mountain when weather permits. I really just enjoyed watching... More

Sempiternel Plaza de armas in Peru. Always nice and friendly with families and loves hanging around. Monumnets and fountains and street vendors...always a pleasure

The Plaza de Armas is the name for the main square in many Hispanic American cities. This one in particular is just spectacular, specially at night.
