Must see in Arequipa

Absolutely stunning church with impressive facade and equally impressive interiors. It is valuable to get a guide but not at all necessary to appreciate such a find.

Definitely worth a visit while in Arequipa. Lot of history of the Incan times. Is close to the plaza de areas. Make sure to go with a local tour guide.

I was more impressed by the courtyards than the church itself but am still glad I went. carving outside is interesting.

In this church you will see paintings from Peruvian artist, and also see some pictures of saints. But the most interesting thing is th Architecture, and you also can visit the monks house. Nowadays it became into commercial places, like places to eat or drink, but can go around and appreciate how it was built and have some nice views.

I discovered this as part of an Arequipa walking tour. The original church was built in 1573 and destroyed in an earthquake a decade later. The structure as it stands now goes back to 1650. The Chapel of San Ignacio, located inside the church just to the left of the altar, is adorned with a collection of exotic murals depicting... More

A beautiful church, with many interesting details. Please be quiet and respectful, as many people are there to worship.

Firstly, the elaborate carved facade of this Jesuit church is a masterpiece of the churriguresque style started in Spain in the 1660s and features all sorts of motifs-take a close look. The church itself is a wonderful example of Mestiza (mixed) architecture , built of stone and wood. Inside, the detailed altar and the altarpieces or retablos are all covered... More
